Insulin Use

Hi, I'm currently 8 weeks into the off season and I'm thinking about adding in insulin. The problem being I've never used it before and every time I research into it I get totally different answers.

I'm just after some advice if possible. I'm currently only able to train at 5am each morning due to having 2 very young children and work commitments, this training is performed fasted. My intra shake consists of 5g creatine, 5g glutamine and BCAAs, my post work out meal is 100g oats, 200ml egg white, tea spoon peanut butter, 2 scoops whey, 1 bagel with jam.

Is there any way I could add insulin into this?

My current macros are 470p, 1200c, 180f. And I'm currently weighing 17st 1lb and 6 foot tall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not pre and post under your current set up

Maybe 2iu with carb and pro meals later in day

OR

You could make your Intra carb heavy to cover the slin then make PWO meal low fat

Start low

Take with carb and pro meals

My ideal is pre but then I’d have 100g Intra carbs and no fat PWO

that's a fair chunk of food! 1200 g carbs a day & near 500g pro

id add it PWO as noel said.. just make up an intra drink & sip it through you're session, take your insulin immediately PWO & have a solid meal (or decent shake) half an hour later

you can do smaller doses through the day with each meal, but its a ball ache ime.. I much prefer it around training

fast acting.. novarapid, Humalog or similar. start at 5iu & work up to a max 10iu

And a PWO meal of 200ml egg white, 2 scoops whey, peanut butter and a bagel with jam?

you are training fasted..so no carbs in you really - recipe for problems....

10g/iu may cover you but I would play safe and up it.... or start sipping the intra pre (purely as your fasted to start so have nothing to 'lean on')

Siln is usually safe if you are careful BUT its also not to be fucked with
always carry something like a packet of gummi bears just in case. Dehydration/Heat etc can effect the slins impact. So don't be blaise about it as it takes just once to get into problems

also depending on BF levels and your general sensitivity 5iu could be fine with 50g carbs , 10iu could be fine BUT it might not be. Same PWO a hot shower could mess you up so be vigilent. The closer you sail to the wind in terms of carbs per iu the more risk. This takes time to work out (i.e for me its around 7g per iu roughly but as I get leaner my needs increase)

I would also match the slin to your carb intake unless you really need to add more carbs (which at 1200g a day I cant believe you need more unless you are sporting an almost top tier pro level of mass. Or you are an ultra marathon runner!)

PWO is fine, ditch the PB no need for fats in there if using slin IMO. Plus silly to use egg white instead of eggs (i.e take quality fats out) and then put in crappy fats from PB......... but that's for another day.

Simply use fast acting (Humalog).... carbs intra (maybe a small amount pre) then Pro/Carb meal Post.....

though with 1200 carbs a day you could add into other meals also...

guessing you have a super active job with those calories. 107kg and needing 8300 calories a day...bloody hell!!

Would u recommend I add dextrose or dextrin to my intra shake?
 
money no object HCBD, if you can get away with it dextrose and malto mixed is a fraction of the cost. I just don't use malto as it bloats me and makes me feel crap. All does the same thing

try dextrose and some malto 50/50 and see how it sits... or just some dextrose ...work out whats best for you

if you can add some EAA instead or in addition to BCAA.....much better

if your flush then PeptoPro would be even better again...very expensive though but here on TM we roll like Maywether

but your key here for safety is carbs

for optimal benefits then the EAA or Pepto pro
 
How long would u recommend I run it for?

can be run for a long time

pre workout for example is likely to be 4/5 times a week

run metformin on off days to help or another GDA (metformin is just dirt cheap)

body fat would be my guide as to how much and how long

again using my own experience whilst 'bulking' ive got in ok nick - and run slin pretty much non stop for a year. 4/5 times a week. some small breaks when away (just to save hassle) I use metformin 500mg on off days. I have also in parts had a much lower carb day on my rest day (again to help with insulin sensitivity) never run more than 10iu pre - my max dose....and carbs been between 80 and 120g intra plus a similar meal to you post (anything from 100 to 300 carbs)
