W16 S3 bench

82.5 8x singles - was supposed to be doubles but struggled on 2nd reps of first two sets, instead of dropping weight I decided to go to singles.

Really wanted hit the doubles today but it will come. Need to get back to benching twice a week as have missed the 2nd session the last few weeks

Weighed myself this morning for the first time in a while... 85.2kg

Hammies are still done in from deadlift day on Thu. Nice chilled weekend relaxing and recovering ready to go again Monday.
 
W17 S1 squat 1rm

Plan was to hit a new 1rm max of 130 then if felt good go for 135.

Warmed up to a 120 single - this felt good, no issues with this.

130 - unracked the bar, felt heavy.... Think I'd basically already decided at this point I wasnt getting it.

Dropped into the hole, no drive back out and ditched the lift, no surprise really .

Felt tired this morning going into the gym, I could use this an excuse for failing it when reallity is i beat myself before getting under the bar.

100% confident on another day I could have and will hit 130.

Positivity is essential on PB attempts, what you're physically capable of far exceeds what you believe you are capable of.
I missed 170 so many times on bench, could hit 160 for 4 or 5 so it was always there.
Just gave up thinking about and used smelling salts (tunnel vision) and it went.

When in doubt, get the nose napalm out :lol:
You should try uppercut, I find it stronger.

Revive the dead is an insane smelling salt (Big Ben I think is the brand). Guy in my gym uses it and I cant hold it closer than my chest to my nose. They're the strongest I have ever smelt. Too strong tbh.

Yeah thats the same guy who makes Nose Napalm, Ben Smith he's a strongman.
Thats bad enough, new plastic bottles keep it fresher longer, end up blinking through tears on bench :lol:
I'll look into some uppercut when I run out!

I don't really get streamy eyes, just cough/runny nose sometimes. But they make a big difference when motivation is needed/fatigue.
