I am the proud recipient of white privilege throughout my life. Born 1973.

1973 - 1984 : Ford Estate (Birkenhead)

1984 - 1992 : North End of Birkenhead

How lucky I was to be born into such privilege!!!

I left home at 18yo to go to university.

Please post up your uplifting stories of white privilege.

You’ve certainly come a long way K

Fair play

Thanks mate but I didn't want to make it about me. It is a tale of how anyone can make it in this meritocratic country. I done OK despite growing up in Birkenhead (broad Scouse accent, bitten left ear, nose like a banana, issues in later life due to childhood : none of these are good traits for working down South).

I didn't deal drugs.
I didn't do any street robberies.
I didn't stab/shoot anyone.
I didn't father loads of kids and leave them when they were just born.
I just worked hard in/out classroom and wanted to better myself so my kids didn't have to grow up in the absolute shitehole that is Birkenhead.

I despise cunts who state White Privilege. Look at the videos above FFS!!

To be honest most of my mates are total screw ups now. All of us born to what most would consider upper middle class familoes, boarding school, University etc.

The biggest negatives I see/saw in them is no appreciation of money:

E.g. 17yr old best mate got a brand new mini Cooper off his mum and dad. Wrote it off within 2 weeks of passing his exam taking it off roading on dartmoor.

If you were to ask my parents have I surpassed their expectations for me in life they'd say no. Partly as I caused them a load of shite many years ago, drug related, and they've never gotten over it. But I have a very different view on life to them and as much as I appreciate them, they're proper snobs.

My thoughts are, yes white privilege exists but you still have to do the work, keep your head down. More doors are open to you. However I am noticing nowadays tho, in some cases its gone the other way. Diversity requirements.

My missus has done better career wise than me and comes from a single parent, hate using this word, but poorer family background.

Life is what you make of it.
