Sissy Squats?

Anybody rate these or waste of time? Considering getting one of those sissy squat bench things for the home gym so I can hit quads more but never tried one before. Is it more comparable to a leg press or leg extension machine?

I think they are a great exercise if done controlled. I like to do then end of a leg session and a few rest pause set to failure. Killer and knee friendly..

If you mean the machine where you just hook your feet under and sit back then I think its a really good piece of kit
Wouldn't say its comparable to any other machine really
It allows you to push feet really far forward and sit right back into a deep squat and really hit the quads
Good for high reps and super sets with body weight
Or holding a plate for lower reps
 
Yeah, that's the machine I'm talking about that you hook your feet in. I reckon I could set one up inside my rack holding a barbell if I need to load it. So do you feel it all mostly in quads or is there much back fatigue involved?

I dont think you'd be able to back squat with it as your feet are so far forward
Tbh I think that defies the idea of the machine
Its designed to get the max stimulation from a little resistance
 
Try doing amrap body weight straight after back squats!!
Agreed.
I have tried just the bar and almost bailed when doing them properly and sitting back bodyweight or a light db is more than sufficient.
Def best as a finisher for me, like you say.
 
Would love to use the machine but gym doesn't have one, I do them on jack squat and really like them. The stretch in quads is unreal
 
I bought a sissy squat for the home gym. Last exercise on quads, slow and controlled, it’s like taking a lighter to the quads.
 
I squatted pretty heavy for years but was never happy with my leg development but sissy’s and hacks really taught me how to connect with and bring some detail out in my quads. Great exercise for me.
 
i do them i use the smiths machine and put my feet in the sissy squat bench you can have it sit further orward this allows you to squat comfortably and its very efective
