About Me:

I could simply state the generic, "I enjoy training and helping others achieve their goals". And whilst true, it is the same tired sales pitch thrown out there in a fitness market saturated by ‘Personal Trainers'.

So instead, I will give some background about who I am, and what I feel sets me apart from the many other personal trainers in the industry.

I started training consistently 13 years ago at which time I was playing football for Hull City- increasing strength and speed helped me to become a better player.

The next 10 years of my journey has been spent trying out new methods, talking with experts in the fitness industry, training with world champions and putting all the things I've learnt into practice. In 2008 I graduated with a BSc (hons) Exercise Science......four months later I benchpressed 300kg breaking the European Senior and World Junior Benchpress Records.

In this industry surely you should be able to 'walk the walk’? After all, if you can't improve yourself, what business do you have training others???

An intensive three year degree focussing on physiology, biomechanics and nutrition has given me an excellent background into how the body works in regards to different types of training and different types of diet- both areas that i continuously look to improve my knowledge about.

I've made mistakes along the way in my own training, but rather than continue to repeat them, I’ve learned and grown from these mistakes, to acquire a knowledge base that can't be found in a book, or on a course, first hand experience is priceless.

As well as competitive powerlifting, I have spent many years focusing on different aspects of physical enhancement, such as, building muscle, reducing bodyfat, strength training, circuit training, aerobic and anaerobic fitness training.

To help people succeed is my passion, I’m not in this game to get rich, if that was the goal I’d be a stock broker or banker, I do it because this is what I love doing.

My services and enthusiasm are not just restricted to top athletes, I get as much fulfillment from helping the middle aged housewife looking to improve her health, figure and fitness, as I do from helping the sporting elite. As well as helping you reach your short term goals, I intend to do things in a way that sets you up for long term success, living life at a higher mental and physical level.

Over the years I have suffered from injuries that may have been avoided with smarter training, less stubbornness, and an acceptance that some times pain is to be listened to. Although no ones likes negative events in their lives, these set backs allowed me to gain the knowledge on how to train and avoid such injuries, also how to work around injuries whilst still being able to make progress.

Some of my competitive achievements are:

-Senior Benchpress European Record - 305kg in the U90kg class

-Junior Benchpress World Record - 305kg in the U90kg class

-Junior Powerlifting Total World Record - 912.5kg in the U90kg class

-WPC Senior World Benchpress Champion - Florida, USA, 2008

-British Benchpress Champion and best overall lifter (multiple times)

I do not offer 'one size fits all methods' because it doesn’t. All training and diet is personalised to your specific goals and life style, taking into account your job, and any mental or emotional stress you may be encountering at the time.

You will be monitored and assessed on a regular basis to ensure your progress is continual, and optimal.

A private forum in this section will be available to log sessions and ask questions if you wish.

Joe,
I've trained with Dig a good few times now and it costs me a tank of petrol, 3-4hrs travelling (depending on traffic) and then a good old feed afterwards and in my opinion it's money well spent, its a shame I am working away for the rest of the year otherwise I would be still be calling down more regular

First off I wish you all the best of luck with the venture Neil, I would also like to add my recommendation to anyone wishing to use him as a PT. I have been advised for the last year nearly by Neil and I have to say that my lifts and competition totals have done nothing but gone up. He has offered advice on everything from training to competition preparation right up to the best way to manage competition day. This has included dieting as well and his suggestions have always made sense and paid off. He keeps in touch regularly and even makes suggestions on the fly during competitions which has been both calming and confidence boosting on the day. Neil is one of the best bar none. Anyone taking him on will only improve and attain all their goals. Best of luck.

Helped me out tons with advice, pointers and training for my 1st ever comp and was prepared for everything that happened, all when he could have, and probaby did want to say "fuck off" lol

Doesnt sugar coat things and can be blunt, but this is his strength imo, says what he thinks, sticks to his guns and is his own person.

Good luck with it all Neil, about fucking time pal!
