Anonymous Forum Explained - Updated

Important Note
When starting a thread or posting in this section you MUST tick the 'Anonymous' check box if you would like to conceal your identity. This cannot be done using the app; anonymous posting is only possible when using the main website.

What Does it Do?

As the title would suggest the idea is to allow members to post anonymously within this forum. Your actual username isn't shown and instead the username 'Anonymous' is displayed. Even moderators and admin cannot see who is behind the posts.

Why?
  • Start a thread without fear of being judged. People won't have any preconceived ideas based on your forum name.
  • Be more open - Things that you wouldn't want to come out in public can now be posted without fear of it being leaked. Relationship issues, PEDs can all be spoken about more freely.

Just How Secure Is This?
Members and Moderators cannot see who is behind the posts but Admin (myself) can. I will only check the identity of an anonymous post when the post is deemed highly inappropriate but please only post in this section if you are prepared for it to be seen (but not shared) by Admin.

How Do I Use It?
You need to be a Private Logs Member or Competitor to use the feature. More info on that here http://www.tmuscle.co.uk/threads/membership-levels.44/ but the basic requirement is 500 posts.

When starting a thread in this section simply tick the anonymous checkbox shown below:

This checkbox can also be used for all replies in this forum. Remember to tick the box if you're following up on a thread you've started anonymously!

If highly inappropriate posts are made using the anonymous account then I will revoke your access, so that you will be able to read the anonymous forum and continue to reply using your own account, but not use the anonymous account, so please use common sense.

Can this be used via the TM App?

Unfortunately not no. Any custom addon like this can only be for the website.
Ah, no worries, just a thought as probably 99% of my TM usage is via the app...

Be interesting to see how this transpires.

Sorry about that, might just have to be a case of popping on a browser (most phone browsers should be fine too) for anonymous threads.

Does anyone else not have the check box to post anonymously?

Anonymous posting isn't working at present due to some changes being made in admin but it will be back this afternoon at latest. Sorry for delay.

A notice has been added to the top of the forum to remind you to tick the anonymous checkbox. Remember that by default you are NOT anonymous and that checkbox must be ticked in order to conceal your identity, even when starting a new thread.

I just posted on the Anonymous thread then noticed my name appeared as normal at the top!?
Is this because I replied via Tapatalk or because I didn't do something right?
I notice there isn't a tick box if using Tapatalk. Can't the thread be anonymous for all posts anyway?

all posts anonymous would be a bad move imo, people already use it to hide behind, if EVERYTIHING was it would make some posts worthless imo
some posts have more crediblity due to who posts them

I realise what happened. Bloody Tapatalk not having a tick box!!

Yep unfortunately the app can't be customised in the same way as the website. There is a notice at the top to remind PC users:

Important Note - When starting a thread or posting in this section you MUST tick the 'Anonymous' check box if you would like to conceal your identity.

I'll make it clearer that this doesn't work with the app.
