Running First Half Marathon

I'm running my first half marathon on Saturday, will be the longest I've ever run at one time. Anyone here ever done one and have any advice? I'm also due to train legs on Wednesday but last time I trained them I had serious doms for about 4 days, should I drop this session or back off a bit.

Cheers

Don't train legs pal, half marathon is hard fucking graft. Stay hydrated make sure you got your electrolytes sorted etc.

Hope you have been training for this!

Only started back running after years away about 12 weeks ago, been consistent tho, can run 10 mile in one go now.
Any recommendations on electrolyte supps?

Nah done a 15km, got an 18km left to
Knock off In the next month or so and then I’ll hit the 21km distance.

I still lift around my runs, don’t find the two
Really bother each other all that much but then I’ve always trained like this so
I’m adapted.

Basically do whatever you normally do in the run in, if you’re training legs and then still hitting the right distance during the build up then you can assume you shouldn’t need to change anything that last week just because it’s race day.

I’d maybe take the day before off to fuel up and do some mobility work but I wouldn’t go making any sweeping changes to your usual routine pre race. Just tip up and do it

All the same shit just like bigchap says fuel up, on the day have a couple of gels handy for while you are going round at about the 8mile mark little boost from sugar etc is dead handy.

Only reason I wouldn’t train legs is I can’t hack the longer distances after my leg work out so I prefer to have a week clear of it - but I’m probably a bit of a pussy

Both great points, so plenty carbs a few hours before the race, will take a drink mixed with electrolytes and some form of fuel for the half way mark.
@bigchap as much as I would like to keep things as normal, right now the running side of training is priorty. And after last week if I want to get near the time I'm aiming for, I may just do some bodyweight movements and lots of mobility work as that I something I really need to improve on
