Boxing Thread

Everyone thinks I have hatred for Wilder and Fury. I don't. I have to base my findings on what the fighters have done and their records.

Wilder has fought 2 opponents. Feather-fisted Fury (who was robbed on the cards) and Luis Ortiz who is 40+yo and whose best win is Bryant Jennings. He has the worst boxing style/skillset I have ever seen in a HW champion. He does have true KO power though.

Fury who won on points against John McDermott (one of the biggest robberies in boxing), went life and death with Chisora, got knocked down by Pajkic/Cunningham, rocked to his boots by Firtha, beat Wlad landing only 86 of 371 punches for a connect percentage of 23% in the worst fight in history and has fought absolute tin cans (two rated outside top 50) in his comeback apart from the decent display against Wilder.

AJ will absolutely destroy both of them based on records only but this is boxing and anything can happen. If I can get evens for AJ in either fight, then it will be time to bet like a man.

Andy Ruiz Jr "brought disgrace to himself" and boxing by being in "no fit state" to fight in his loss to Anthony Joshua, said promoter Frank Warren.
Ruiz Jr, 30, weighed 20st 3lb for the fight in Saudi Arabia, more than three stone heavier than Joshua, who gained a wide points win to regain the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles.
"This was ridiculous. When eyebrows were being raised at the weigh-in he literally was the elephant in the room," said Warren, who promotes Tyson Fury but was not involved in this bout.
"Just because you're a heavyweight it shouldn't mean you don't have an obligation to display a degree of athletic intention.
"Ruiz Jr brought disgrace to himself and the sport by failing to prepare to any sort of level. Joshua must've wondered which chin he was supposed to aim for."

I don’t like old Fish Eyes but that comment about not knowing which chin to aim for was actually quite funny

Wilder Fury II

10 weeks until the proposed date? When will venue be announced, tickets on sale etc……..

Dont see why AJ wants to do mandatories. If he wants all the belts just fight winner of fury v wilder in the summer. A Unification bout cancels any mandatory requirements

What I dont get is Wilder has said millions of times he wants there to be one champion, one face one name etc.

But then he also says he doesn't see them fighting or the fight happening

But why, if u want 1 face 1 name then all u have to do is fight AJ?

They are both full of shit. Wilder sets up his fights early and now AJ does too. This is to avoid each other. Wilder announced ortiz and fury, AJ is now fighting Pulev followed by Usyk. Its an endless circle now

@tomlet1 @Afghan

The honest answer is I just don't know. We had all the fooking about with Shelly Finkel and Eddie Hearn trying to set up the Wilder-AJ fight a while ago, turned into a farce. I tended to believe Hearn more than Wilder at the time (maybe Matchroom bias from me) but, looking back, Wilder was right as he got offered 15m, he'd easily get double that now.

Obviously we have PBC, Arum and Matchroom/DAZN and three different broadcasters so it is always going to be difficult to get these fights arranged but it has always happened in the past that the fights get done.

Wilder is 34yo so he should be trying to get the fights done soon, Fury 31 and AJ 30.

Maybe we will see Fury Wilder II but I'm pretty sure it won't be on Feb 22. AJ v Pulev next. Hope to see unification after that.

Wilder will probably deteriorate from 36, Fury's legs don't look as fleet as they were so it may be in AJs favour to get a few mandatories out of the way first.

I want to see the big fights though.

Here is an interesting theory (not mine) as to why it hasn't been announced.

Though its possible it's not been announced officially because Wilder is currently on the gear and they don't want the drug testing to begin (like how Mayweather used to insist on announcing "signed" fights himself).

Wilder always announces fights at very short notice remember he said in May he'd signed to fight Ortiz, didn't announce the fight until about 6 weeks before. Much like most of his other fights. A popular tactic amongst cheats to avoid VADA tests while they are on the sauce.

Lmao..is that written by one of your AJ fanboys on that boxing forum? Fury is in full training camp, the networks are holding up the announcement.
