Costochondritis

Hello,

What’s happening TM, have any of you here experienced this and if so, how did you rectify or recover from it? I’ve been attempting to train through it for some time now, which is perhaps not appropriate, but it’s just messing my training up completely.

particularly in the case of progressing any pressing movements, it’s simply proving not possible. I believe it started with weighted dips and more specifically leaning forward into the dip motion to further engage the chest, consequently it’s transpired to now impact the majority of my other lifts.

I’m thinking to take a complete month of any form of upper body training? in hope it subsides but I’m not optimistic. I’ve been reluctant to stop training as gym keeps me grounded/level headed, motivated and focused. can easily end up on a path of destruction without training to focus on as become rather bored throughout week otherwise.

Anyway I hope you’re all well. see the couple links attached if not familiar with term. open to any constructive input. Cheers

My wife had this caused by another condition (Bronchiectasis).

Bascially just rest it out.
Don't do anything that aggravates it etc.

Either deload massively and continue with like 30 rep sets to maintain some amount of muscle stim, or just take a good 2 weeks off, get on the NSAIDS and rest up.

I learnt the hard way that training through something your body was telling you was poorly, ends up in something going catastrophically wrong. Its a marathon no a sprint, maximise your training lifespan not peak.

Like everyone has said it's inflammation that has clearly been caused by your training.

Rest for a few weeks and take some anti-inflammatory.

I agree with the de-load idea just keep some high rep sets, low weight to get some blood into the area, helps with active recovery and it won't drive you nuts as it doesn't mean you have to stop training and rest it completely.
