Migration From A Non Racist View

It's what stock market calls an adjustment it should have been going up for years all of it but mass European cheap labour meant no need to pay more, people didn't train for jobs because what's the point if the pay is piss poor and you are better off doing something else, parents didn't push kids to join them because why would you if your earning less than a part time manager at McDonald's. We will have a skills gap for years to come because of this mess
Can’t mention it mate the woke brigade pull out the racist stick lol even the extreme left footers are racist nowadays lol

I do not live in the UK but am British and i can tell you 100% the immigrants that come to where i am living have zero skills. Most of them do jobs like Packet delivery drivers. Low wage jobs but respect to them. Most are just bums living off social money. They are just wasters who have now found paradise.

Exactly this. Assuming present and future governments don't just cave to businesses lobbying for relaxed immigration again the only way to fill the gap will be to increase wages to the point where it becomes attractive to actually train for and do one of these jobs rather than sit in a warm office as a call handler or administrative assistant.

Not going to happen overnight though and in the meantime businesses will complain that "no-one wants to do these jobs" while offering a pound more than minimum wage, and that the only solution is taking on migrants.

I'm British.
Give me £10 per hour and a contracted salary with benefits/holidays.....and I'll happily pick your strawberries and clean toilets Mon-Fri 9-5 :thumb:

I would still be able to run my other small businesses around those hours and if I added that wage to my small business earnings....I'd be in a very nice income bracket.

Not really. I'm in direct contact with managers struggling like fuck to keep/recruit drivers and whinging about polish boys going home and uk guys "being pricks" refusing to pick up the slack or quitting to go places offering more money or sign on bonuses. I've told them this is a long time coming and what do they expect after wages being stagnant for 20 years.

Fail to see the connection between the price of a secondhand car and the supply and demand issues in the labour market.

easy cheap labour and material shortage ..... new stuff cant be made as quickly. Shipping is a mess (slower and expensive)...so entire supply chain is in trouble

2nd hand car is available now...supply and demand...demand for cars is high, supply low..... so price rises.... inflation... a large chunk of this is caused by covid...

if there was no labour shortage then factories would be pumping out at full capacity, therefore usually a glut in market, and lower pricing... or at least stable.

economics and inflationary pressures Vol 1 with Doctor Noel Phd Msc Bsc VC MBE MOH etc etc

Mate the migrants picking Broccoli get £30 an hour due to the shortage of pickers.

I’m an economic migrant here for your cash and women what’s the issue?

The reference to second hand cars was purely an example of hyperinflation in the UK. I could have just as easily used properties as an example or many of the other things that are vastly outpacing salaries. I think you get my point.

As for the drivers scenario, I think you'll find that has more to do with the fact that the average age of drivers is so high. HGV drivers average 55 years old. More and more are retiring and younger people don't want to do these jobs. But in any event you're exactly proving my point!

Brexit has resulted in European drivers fucking off which has resulted in the UK being fucked for drivers. You're bragging that their wages have gone up but what does that matter when nobody's taking those jobs and the whole country is suffering as a result?!

That's the crux. Highly skilled immigration where there's a genuine shortage is pretty much a net benefit, although detrimental to the country of origin. Skilled labor like we've had from Eastern Europe the last few decades is a big benefit to employers getting cheap labour and skilled white collar workers getting cheap plumbers, window washers, etc. but it hurts blue collar workers by diluting the labour pool and destroying the principle of supply and demand dictating fair wages.

Semi-literate, unskilled, non-English speaking economic migrants like the ones trying to cross the channel are just to everyone's detriment.

Show me the figures that show semi-literate, unskilled, non-English speaking economic migrants like the ones trying to cross the channel are to everyone's detriment.

Sure they might not contribute much in the short term, but many of them go on to make valuable contributions to society, and many of them end up doing the shit but necessary jobs that nobody else wants to.

In your mind skilled migrants are bad because they drive down wages, non-skilled drivers are bad because they contribute nothing... Your solution would be to close all borders and only allow homegrown ethnicities the living space to flourish.

Sounds remarkably like 1930s Germany...

I take that as you agree that 30000 Somalians aren’t a benefit to the country then. Oh and while you’re here Tony I sincerely apologise for slavery! And I will be campaigning to remove the grandson of infamous Ghanaian slave trader Mohamed Babatu from teaching in Ghanaian schools along with the removal of the Edward Colston statue in Bristol MmmmmKay!!!

Apology accepted.

And no, I don't agree that 30000 Somalis aren't of benefit to the country. Just the simple fact they get people like you so triggered makes them absolutely priceless.

I think you mix up your arguements somewhat. No one is saying sensible immigration and allowing people with genuine needs can seek help when leaving a war zone
