Little Simons Dadbod And Ruptured Achilles Recovery

Man oh man, it's been a while...

So those on social media will know I ruptured my right achilles 11 weeks ago. It was a partial rupture, but there isn't much difference between a partial and full, recovery is still 3 months plus.

For those who haven't seen it:

To add to that my first born son arrived 3 weeks later while I was in a cast with two crutches.

My weight has ballooned to 295lb / 21st

So I started cyclic keto diet by Lyle McDonald and limped into the gym for a fullish body session.

To a round of applause from the gym family may I add

Bench

bar x 20
60kg x10
100kg 2x10
100kg x6

Rack pulls

Bar x10
60kg x10
100kg x10
140kg x6

Shrugs

60kg 3x8

Shoulder press

Bar x10
60kg 2x8

Hammer strength plate loaded lat machine

40kg per side 3x10

Done!

Being a spit n sawdust gym I had to really watch my footing walking around much less when performing movements.

I've got one hell of a limp and my achilles has all the flexibility of an iron rod...

Hopefully back in the gym Friday for a "depletion" type workout, all rep stuff, low amounts of rest, I wanted to do more today but ran out of time as everyone wanted to catch up about my injury and my new born.

Good to be back :)

congrats on the arrival of the new born mate, & welcome back to the gainz

x2 on the peptides, give TB500 a read up on

wooooooooo hes back... sort of... good to see you up and hobbling about mate... I would agree with the bros mate peptides but know youre a lifetime natty :D would add in cissus, msm, glucosamine and chondroitin (all natty supps btw)...

Gees uz.... i ruptured mine completely 8 years ago when my son was 8weeks! ....... right one too lol.

Its a horrendous time , caring and trying to fkn balance at the same time.

Best of luck dude and remember to stretch the hell out of your calve during rehab or it will end up close to your knee!:)

Congratulations and good luck with the recovery fella, make the most of the little guy guy not doing much for now....

Cheers gents,

Had totally forgotten about supps all this time. May have to get some Cissus, I don't do the whole injecting malarkey but I have to be honest, I came pretty close to purchasing some GH.

Couldn't really justify the spending with little man being born.

Anyway diet going well, 9lb off, as you'd expect when you start at 295[emoji38]
Carb load day today, protein remains the same, fats reduced (I can't believe I'm typing this, I sound like a bodybuilder )

Depletion workout at the gym, high reps, low rest periods where I could, got gym family members trying to catch up with me constantly.

Bench, Close grip bench, Rack pulls, shrugs, seated press, hammer strength rows, bicep curls

For those who haven't seen me sprog

Enjoyed my carb load yesterday, first time I've ever done a calculated carb up.

In the past it's just been "eat a fuckton day"[emoji38]
I hit 670g C, 135g F, 216 G

Was short on the carbs but it's all good. Probably don't really need a carb load but I'm trying to follow the diet as closely as possible.

+3lb this morning to 20st 9lb off the back of it.

Another full body session this morning, 90 secs between movements, 60 secs between sets.

Little man only gave me 3 hours sleep so it was a tiring one.

Bench
CGBP
Rack pulls
Shrugs
Behind the neck seated press
Hammer strength row
Hammer strength curls

Achilles mobility improving each day just from general use. Still nowhere near a single leg calf raise but that's to be expected.

I still have a prominent limp. Physio starts on Thursday, imagine that, 12.5 weeks after injury.

Honestly, if it wasn't for my own hard work my mobility would be terrible.

I still have to be careful though, apparently re-rupture is most common during the first 4 weeks of walking without the boot and crutches.

I think that's largely dependent on the severity of the initial rupture.

Anyways, more dieting stuff until my next session on Friday.

2lb loss this week.

Depletion work out this morning, 3 to 4sets of 10 to 15 reps - 60 seconds rest

Bench
Leg extensions
Viking press (couldn't be arsed to set set up seated barbell press)
Tricep extensions - rope
Hammer strength row
Dips
Curls

Enjoying these sessions to be honest, nice change up from worrying about hitting percentages etc

Takes me back to how I used to train when I first started out.

Had first physio appointment yesterday for my Achilles, they just assigned all the stuff I've been doing since week 7, it's 13 weeks today.

Apparently I'm pretty advanced, they wanted to put me in a group session at first then realised no point.

What state is your calf in right now mate, meaning muscle loss?,

Cool pic of your wee lad , a new born red YNWA :thumb:

Cheers buddy, he's an awesome little character.

Atrophy hasn't been too bad, just calf is weak as piss.

Injured Achilles on left, good one on the right, difference is minimal

Actual Achilles looks different though, grows back thicker after a rupture, looks like a candle from behind.

You have been lucky man.....dont see much of a difference at all.

Rehab is painfully slow though mate, not a lot of blood circulates around the achilles. My scar looks like they opened me with a broken bottle and hasnt faded much at all, after 8 years!

Care to share your little un,s name ? ,
