Anyone Interested In The Us Presidential Election?

The worst thing about being here in the states right now and following the election is not so much how dodgy all four candidates are (don't forget Jill Stein of the Greens and Gary Johnson of the Libertarians - each just as dodgy as Clinton and Trump in their own ways), but how nasty ordinary people get about it.

Politics really does bring the worst out in a lot of people I think.

Trump all day. He's what America needs. I truly believe he's the only honest candidate since JFK and he scares the "higher powers" like JFK did.

As for someone just saying about Corbyn... what was that saying: the trouble with socialists is they always run out of someone else's money.

Neither are fit, and it shows how embarrassing America is that the people have let it get this far as every other country is laughing their cock off at the shambles.

Trump is a narcissist. He is so self absorbed, he literally gives zero fucks about anything or anyone other than himself.

The shit he says in public shows he isn't a rational human being, and could quite easily make some devastating decisions off the back of his irrational behaviour and mindset.

Comes out with some fucking unreal things, yet doesn't say how he's going to change it.

It seems a show, he's like a pro wrestler, or it could be a very good act and he could calm down if gets in position, but I doubt it.

Clinton is a complete crook. The whole Benghazi investigation, the emails etc. What in the fuck??? Lol

Who the fuck has an email server in her bathroom?! I mean, it's completely fucked up. She's a frightening person too, and is an evil little cow.

She's also said so many things then changed her mind later. Not small opinions either, large ones. Just so untrustworthy.

So evil too, just watching this about Gadaffi makes my spine shiver -

Look at her laugh at the end! Evil cow! MUHAHAHAHAHAAHA!!

Frightening times for America, but as I said, it's good in a way as it shows them up how it's got to this.

whole things is laughable to be honest

IMO trump is safer all round... he isn't a dick, hes been a successful businessman and has a team of advisors hell listen to. he will talk hard but hes no going to start nuking countries like some make out - ridiculous

the whole lack of press that Clintons devious secrets gets (wikileaks et al) is just a sign of how corrupt things are. she doesn't look like she'll last a year in office - looks like she will collapse...talks like a politician - struggles when trump confronts her on things... shes a snake... trump you know where he stands he speaks his mind.... like or loath.... Clinton I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw her..... I hate all she stands for

trump has more in common with joe public than she does despite his wealth....anyway what do I care doesn't effect me directly....just indirectly.... I hope trump gets it just for shock value... makes for a more interesting world and at least some type of change

As someone said several hundred years ago, a country gets the government it deserves

Both trump and Clinton are vile albeit in very different ways. It boggles the mind that one of them will be the most powerful person in the world.

As regards our own politicians I give up tbh. What Corbyn says would be great but there's no way of paying for it. The tories generally turn out to be bastards but usually balance the books (but at the wrong people's expense). Pick your poison.

Surely you can't fault Jill Stein and Gary Johnson for the tone of this election, both struggle to receive anything resembling serious coverage in the press and only pop up occasionally in the media when they are being ridiculed, vaccines with Stein and Aleppo with Johnson. The two party system is huge problem with what's wrong with American politics and both major parties are essentially two sides of the same coin albeit one focused superficially of identity politcs and the other on conservative values while following a broadly similar economic and foreign policy agenda.

I didn't vote Tory.

I don't need a lesson on economics or taxation, having worked in both those fields.

That concludes my contribution to this thread.

Perhaps you can explain first why I'm required to explain myself to you.

Thanks

In fact, don't waste your time. You're a Corbyn fan - great. But not everyone is.

And because someone disagrees with you it does not justify long, aggressively toned, at least semi personal responses, followed by demands for them to explain themselves before your presumed authority.

And on that note, I AM out.

well so far with GBP where it is the budget deficit will be halved in a few months :-) downside is inflation will just keep rising...

raising corporation tax is great - encourages business to leave and go elsewhere... not really a good idea.

problem with most Labour ideas (and supporters) is this NHS and employment utopia

so loads of government created jobs that do zero and the cash drain that is the NHS - its essential to voters but was never intended to be the elephant it now is... costs a fortune but is one of the things that we all complain about but take for granted....

raising corporation tax is just a labour vote winner..... as it appears you aren't taking it off the man in the street - hooray! but you are taking off the guy who employs him ....anyway....wont work so well in the current environment.....to encourage business and growth you want low corp tax (hence why Trump is using that line a lot)

I always find it amusing how political people get... good old labour who under brown broke all his golden rules on budget deficits and borrowing... and its the reason the national debt built up anyway - Labour overspent...to win votes and then after that its been the Bank of England doing QE (like every other central bank) to prop up the economy (generally works initially but requires things to get better...which they aren't....

anyway neither is better than the other - bit like religion - all pretty much the same thing - and all equally as silly.

well tories have 'spent more' its true but remember most of what they have spent isn't real - its been propping up the economy buying there own debt...and to be fair (regardless of party in power where its the monster raving looney party) that's all done by the Bank of England which is 'independant' cough cough. A third of what owed is paper at the BOE in the form of QE

a 0.5% raise in corp tax wont do sod all - certainly not cover the NHS... which is a mess....

the NHS has grown massively though... and every government just kicks the debt problem down the line...why not borrow money at low rates and pay it back in 30yrs time then re issue... equivalent to you going for a mortgage and being told they will offer you one for a 300 year tenur at 0.00001% - you take it and let your great great great great grandkids worry about it!

plenty of people weren't so well off under labour either

usual political bollocks...... grannies freezing etc - happens every year.... we all know its wrong and shouldn't happen yet no government actually rectifies it, same for veterans - never changes.

problem with tax avoidance is business does relocate... it employs workers , who in turn go to the pub, the launderette , the chippy, the knocking shop and the local tescos. company X trys to not avoid paying tax (as shareholders demand it). so in those cases of course business has the upper hand... lets tax Apple...EU slaps a big fine on it... rightly so ..says you avoided tax....immediately the US says hey Deutsche bank you owe us exactly the same amount in fines... we are in a far more globalized world than ever... whether we like that or not

I agree totally in principle...but tax laws have loop holes..... threaten to close them and business says oh we may move... your a smart man you know its not so black and white :-) its all a horrible grey.

nationalization is interesting but Keynesian economics doesn't always work...Hoover tried it in the US and turned things into a depression. FDR did try too but it was the end of WW2 that did that job (ending the depression) not Keynesian policy... we could argue the toss all day... Keynesian policy took what 7yrs (if you are in the Keynes camp) to get out of the depression...not a short period and would need two terms for Corbyn (who would unlikely get another term if 4 years in nada had changed right) and many economists disagree that it was either a success nor attributable to Keynes... anyway they are far smarter than I am on economics - so bar some guesswork and a little bit of my own knowledge I am not really in a position to argue greatly on the merits of demerits of Keynes application to modern economic issues..

lets just fund the Navy and all go off and steal things again - ala 'merica....we were pretty damn good at that :-) solves all our issues

I think there will be less killing of innocent humans around the world (particularly Middle East & Africa) if Trump wins.

I agree. I think Hillary will want to take on Iran, there has already been news articles on how anti America Iran is right now and I do believe there is a bigger agenda in the ME that none of our news networks want to cover. Eg Yemen.
Trumps main strength still is that fact

well two proxy wars already going on vs iran - three if you include the Israeli / Palestine ongoing saga..... Saudis skint and needing Oil to go ballistic else they are in trouble...hence the first ever bond deal yesterday ..... Trump will mean less wars as he'll speak his mind and people may think twice... Hitlery will just be smug as usual
