Attention definitely has its pros and cons.

I use to love the attention when I was single on a night out, but it can be a little bit stressful for ones OH. I have had a guy walk into a door once as he was looking at my arms instead of where he was going, and another chap walked into a bin for the same reasons. That sort of thing makes me chuckle. Sometimes staring can be a little too uncomfortable.

It is very annoying how there seems to be a presumption that I am the aggressor, if there is trouble on a night out. Fortunately, I know most of the door staff of the places I frequent, but the label of bullying people when I have shown no aggression is quite frustrating, and requires me to take special measures to ensure observers have a correct perception of the situation. The flip side of this is that having a little muscle tends to encourage people to remain civil and discuss matters properly.

I concur with kids reactions - I can remember when a wide eyed little boy asked his dad if I was superman, but his dad did not seem to be too impressed at all! Guys can get a bit funny if their GF are looking over, even if it is a look of curiosity rather than of attraction.

I hate the reaction of some older folk or the super timid who can get intimidated. I make a point of always being uber polite to them and ensure I am communicating friendly vibes to them effectively. My particular method is jovially greeting elderly strangers in my best pathe voice, which seems to draw a smile.

    I cannot grumble,
    J
