So you've taken the plunge and entered your first competition.

What led to you making the decision to compete?
Did you enter it alone or with a mate?
    Did you place?
What was the hardest part i,e last few weeks/days of the diet or perhaps home life?
Where did you find the motivation i,e family, training partner, eye on the prize?

I enjoy competing no matter what in.
    Alone.
    I won.
    Diet was the hardest.
Family, buddies but at end of the day it's about being your best that will motivate you.

wanted to try powerlifting but thought I needed to get my numbers up, a chap on here said just do it so I did...
    Alone
3rd out of 5 or something...
    actually doing it...
the challenge itself and me wanting to be stronger...
from me... I love lifting and want to progress...

always wanted to but was a pussy and kept saying i will do it in a year or two when im bigger

eventually my dad told me to man the fuck up (in a polite way lol) and get my feet wet as i need to just do it in order to progress more

i did, overdieted and fucked it royally; didnt place. learnt so much. competed again 2 years later and placed third so an improvement. im now chomping at the bit to get better

Took the plunge because I wanted to see if I enjoyed it.

    Placed 3rd out of 9

It's wasn't hard for me because I didn't go full bore. Just wanted to wet my feet and see if it's worth the sacrifice to get proper conditioned should I choose to do it again.

I didn't need to find motivation. I just like training and thought it would be cool to showcase what I'd achieved. If you have to rely on others for motivation in bodybuilding, your going to fail pretty quickly.

What led to you making the decision to compete?
My friends were running a charity comp and I was naturally strong for my size

Did you enter it alone or with a mate?
I didnt know any of the other competitiors - they all trained in the tough gym (where i train now)

    Did you place?
    I came 2nd

What was the hardest part i,e last few weeks/days of the diet or perhaps home life?
Not really relevant to PL - well, keeping bw in check

Where did you find the motivation i,e family, training partner, eye on the prize?
From myself, nothing to prove etc

    Some interesting replies.
@Con have you also competed naturally?
    @hsmann87 Natural and what level?
@Hilly - Surprising answer, i'd have assumed you would have been in relativly decent shape (in comparison to the average gym goer)
@Phmg - The cash was surely a motivation for you, what class/division do you cmopete in?

Yes this year I competed in 3 shows and won naturally (no supplements for 3.5 years).
