Is Dave not a mod on here any more?

I remember him posting some pics up a couple of years back and he was leanish, looked fucking huge.

No idea what he looks like nowadays though.

So BUN is a kidney marker.
My wife went for a blood test 5 days after a workout.
Her BUN was 34, doctor says "come back retest next week but you're very close to needing dialysis".
So I had her not train for the whole week she goes back and its 25, no issue.

One of my female clients just had blood work done her BUN was in the 30's also.
"Don't use NSAIDS and maintain good hydration" was what the doctor wrote on her results.

^^^^^Erm....WTF!!! See a slight difference in diagnosis there?!?! Both girls same age same weight. BUN elevated due to training and protein intake. One doctor says "kidney failure" other doctor says "drink more water"!
this happens so much it is unbelievable......

mine was caught from a routine urine test that found some pro in my urine, bloods were all fine and within range (on the limit but in range) thankfully the Dr i saw was up on his game

My recent bloods were spot on for kidneys liver and prostrate tests

You saying about the urine thing has got me wondering though how reliable these bloods actually are

now your thinking linear not logically.......when you say they were all spot on what were the numbers?
what was your eGFR calculation? (created via creatinine levels, age and race)

next time you go to the GP ask them to dip your urine its a simple test they can sort there on the spot

Tbh I couldn't tell you

Go told me they were fine but never went into details.

Bit sketchy I know

if you are getting your bloods done for piece of mind then i would always get the individual numbers and ref ranges

I did the results on screen but he just touched on what was out of range

I asked my consultant for figures in the past and he simply said " why do you want them? "

I said " just out of interest "

" but why? They're all satisfactory given the circumstances so how will knowing the figures be interesting or useful to you? "

Couldn't really argue the toss further without incriminating myself.

" I want to post them on TM to my internet friends so I can monitor my gear usage doctor "

Herp derp..... I just said " yeah fair point " and left it. I just take his word on it now. Raised creatinine never gets a mention.....
I just tell them its for comparison with my last and next results... this way I can keep better track of my health snapshot... they print them and give them to me no probs... um if I were ever to use peds and have to get bloods and shit that is... :D

Keep them all on printouts

He is but hasn't been online recently which is a shame. Some of this thread makes for uncomfortable reading IMO and although I know 99% of the posts are only because they want the best for Dave and for him not to suffer any serious health issues or they're just banter I hope he sees it so that he can respond and give his side of the story.

I just leave it to the Professionals. If something is fucked they'll tell me......
I used to think that but I've seen so much over the last few years that just shows that's not the case for so much of the public and I think it's a dangerous attitude to have if you care about your health, unless you're incredibly lucky to have a fantastic doctor. IME you've got to look after your health and figure out anything remotely complicated yourself (or at least enough to find the right people) because there's little chance of a GP picking up on something unless you're one of the lucky few.

If a doctor can see the problem with their eyes then you will probably be ok. For anything else, good luck!

Agreed.
I am very in-tune with my body.
Doctors wont get a look in unless some thing goes seriously wrong.
I monitor BP and give blood if those two are good and I feel OK then I am OK.

Now if I get a strange mole or some shit like that...yeah i will go to the appropriate doctor ASAP!

But surely your doctor would be checking any new blood test against the old ones anyway?

To me, realistically...... Me having the figures is of no use. Say I did note a change, what am I gonna do about it and do I have the expertise to interpret them? No... Chances are the doctor will have noted that same change from my medical records. I doubt you lot are interpreting your own any differently to your doctors.

I just leave it to the Professionals. If something is fucked they'll tell me...... Over and above that I don't see the point.

Unless you like keeping them in a big folder on s shelf and gazing at it and thinking " I'm abusing these drugs healthily now chaps, look at my ring binder of blood results. Nobody is more responsible than I "
given your recent history mate I am surprised you would leave it up to "the professionals"... unless you mean that team of awesome agents that gets shit done... ime most docs barely know their arse from their elbow... looking up shit on google and then screaming admire me for I have a GP cert bitches... lol... I have met like 3 docs and one surgeon and a few nurses that I can truly say I respect out of 100s I have met (and that includes working for a time in a private hospital lol)... tbh I would suggest that if youre going to keep a record/running tally then youre probably likely to study/research a bit to have an inkling... not all surely but hey thats their responsibility...

If they'd overlooked something as simple as a blood count though you'd surely have grounds for negligence. We're talking basics here and reading off a screen for a few figures.

I know doctors aren't perfect, mistakes can be made but the vast majority are well competent to do their jobs. Interpretation of my blood results being one of them.

I doubt any on here would be able to do a better job than the vast majority of GP's. I've had my fair share of crap ones who have refused to diagnose the issue and chose only to treat symptoms rather than the underlying issue but none have ever sold me wrong on anything I've asked them to do.
ok you posted this before me bitch... :D
