Docs rang me Xmas eve with results of my blood tests.
Doc - your test levels are at the low end of the range.
Me - ok what was the reading
    Doc - 8.9
Me - so that puts me below clinical range then
Doc - yes, range is 9.4 to 36. I believe you used some TRT gel
Me - yes, but only for 7 weeks and came off a month before test
Doc - how did you feel
Me - like night and day
Doc - well we can't prescribe TRT so going to refer you to endocrinologist

So anyone had experience of endo?

Looked up NHS guidelines and they say they try and see you within 18 weeks

Had 2 years of being unable to lose weight.
Ok, kind of gave up on diet a bit back as nothing was working, but will get back on it, but the low test will contribute a fair bit to this I assume?

Should I source some more TRT gel whilst waiting ?

Should I stay off in case they need to do more tests?

Going on TRT like I say above was like night and day, well a dull day
Was applying 40mg of test per day, and whilst I felt loads better, just felt like I needed "a little more" whether that's right or wrong I'm not qualified or experienced to know, but just my general feeling.

With such a low test level, should I be thinking of an anti e ?

I'd be very surprised if they didn't run further tests mate. Would stay off if I were you because if they do, they would likely to get an inaccurate reading which would screw you over. Let us know how you get on.

Range is dependent on your area. My area for example is 7 - 33 range. Just curious as to why you admitted using gel?

I'm on prescribed trt for life now. Endo appointment came through quick. I was initially put on gels 50mg e/d for approx. 3 months then went onto Nebido every 12 weeks. Best thing I have ever had off the specialist is TRT...My life changed for the better mate.

Is your levels low due to use of PED's?

I went initially as I had a load of symptoms conducive to a hormonal imbalance but thought it might be thyroid. Doc was sceptical about that, and I thought what the hell, tell him about the TRT and the difference it made to me. Doc was more sympathetic about that and sent me for the tests.
Different doc rang with results but obviously been put on my notes.

Apart from the 7 weeks of gel and a 4 week course of Rohm labs xxx I've taken no other PEDS
I think heavy dieting down from 27 stone then getting very stressed out from lack of work and going on short time thus raising cortisol levels buggered up my hormones - just my opinion anyway

Sounds very plausible mate, and no criticism meant about telling the doc. Just curious for my own take on it. Can you source gels if need be? Or are you waiting/hoping for the endo to give you the green light re trt?

A mate knows an old guy who gets more than he needs so sells on the extra. He got me the initial 2 packs, but that was the other thing, in that this guys "extras" would be insufficient for my own needs, and thus the docs seemed a more logical route

So you could be sat waiting for 18 weeks with very low testosterone, feeling utterly shite? I can see why many self-prescribe as the TRT/HRT treatment in this country is awful.

it will be worth the wait though mate. Just has to ride it out for now. If he starts @plod messing around with compounds this will show up immediately and the endo will just say no! And assume it was self inflicted, and more than likely tell him he will recover naturally. It's a fine art blagging the endo. I blagged it, but it took me some bloody homework to get the endo to believe I was low...

Cant remember time scale but I was nothing like 18 weeks.
I was blood tested several times before starting trt by docs then by endo.

Forgot to mention I had 1 from the docs (came back low) Then, a further 3 from the endo...They are looking at the middle test to give them an idea where to start.

Sounds like I best stay off then if there's going to be multiple tests with endo. Assume that means 4 visits minimum to endo?

3 tests with endo rings a bell to me mate. There were a few and loads of tests over the next couple of years establishing a level they were happy with, but cant say that's the norm or not tbh.

So I could be looking at quite some time before I even get prescribed
Would people say it's worth waiting or not?

Yes stay off from now until your endo does all the necessary checks. They will do your bloods over a 3 to 6 month period depending on your endo and results. Worth the wait though mate. The more you self subscribe the less chance you'll get prescribed trt.

Potentially yes but id just sit tight till you see the endo, they may be happy to start you straight away.
I went through long spells of ' is this worth the hassle' but getting ypur bloods tested regularly and the better I feel on trt is worth it.
    Eventually. ..
