Honestly I think Ronaldo deserves to be held in higher regard than Messi.

    1. Whilst he doesn't have the same natural talent as Messi, he's worked harder and grafter (running to school with weights on legs for example).

    2. He's proven himself in 3 leagues.

    Agree with that
Messi is complete natural talent, everything he does looks effortless
Ronaldo come across as a perfectionist, always working to be better
He wanted to be the best in the 3 greatest leagues
Definitely 2 of the greatest players ever
Sir Alex is some manager to spot that talent at 18 and sign him after 1 game

    The stats are truly staggering.

Ronaldo is 35 now whilst Messi is 33 so we'll have to compare records at the end of their careers.

Both phenomenal but I also love Diego too (just from the eye test as he doesn't have comparable stats or longevity due to his lifestyle issues).

To score that many goals in European competition when almost every game is against quality opponents is unreal

What do your teams need for next season?

Better 4th attacker to backup or compete with the front 3. Origi out.

Backup left back: We just look much less of a threat when Robertson isn't there. Leave Milner to play out his Liverpool career as a midfield option and Gomez is not a left back at all.

    CB to replace Lovren?

    Backup goalie: Adrian is useless.

Looks like Wijnaldum out and Thiago in.

Brewster back, Keita to step up, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot to get more game time too.

TBH, it is difficult to improve the best team in the world so just some tweaks needed.

United would look great like this:

DDG (needs to step up again)
    Wan Bissaka
    Maguire
    Koulibaly/lindelof
    Shaw/williams
    Matic
    Pogba
    Sancho
    Fernandes
    Rashford
    Martial

    Bench:
Romero (too good tbh for backup)
    Jones
    James
    Greenwood
    Mctominay
    Bailly

Maybe a CF but wouldn't want Greenwood to be shut out.

We need a mobile CB Lindelof is great but I think they'll sign someone like Koulibaly or some Brazilian guy at Lille there's talk of.

CF - lautauro Martinez seems available. Not signing new contract at inter and too expensive at 78m for Spanish teams. Not linked with Prem apart from a city rumour I saw a while back.

OGS will prioritise young home grown talent if possible to sign in.

Do you think that team would challenge for the PL?

The team since Fernandes would have been challenging for the league this season. They wouldn't have won, but they def would have narrowed the gap on where they did finish.

People/you, seem to forget they didn't actually lose many games, they just drew far too many pre Christmas.

    3 strikers with over 15 goals, I believe 2 over 20 isn't bad.

My post is also based on the fact that apart from Chelsea, so far teams have been reluctant to spend mega dollar. The impact of covid would seem to be having a limiting effect on the amount of transfers clubs will pursue.

I think they have been decent since Bruno came but a team will never win a PL with a GK like DDG.

    Man U 11/1 to win PL 20/21.

I don't think a team could do it now with Man C and Liverpool being so strong.

I agree a good GK is more important than ever. I'll always like DDG though, he's one of, if not only remaining fergie signings. His previous best imo deserves one more season.
Plus he is nowhere near as bad as taibi, or as eccentric as bartez.

He was a great GK but I think his decline is terminal as it is 2 seasons of under performance. Also I think it is mental rather than physical. Weird isn't it? Hart and now DDG, both very young, both gone at the game. In the good old days GKs could go on until 40. Is it the intense pressure now? Maybe.

Both started out very young. I believe DDG was world's most expensive young GK upon signing for united.

I don't necessarily agree with two seasons being bad, this one yes, the one before he wasn't his best.

I don't think he's beyond having a chance to redeem himself, but it is last chance saloon really with the emergence of henderson.
