With my 50th birthday in September this year, I thought I would pop back on and say hello to everyone. I have stayed in touch with a few of the boys of course.
The long term users of the board will remember me but new users won't : below is a heavily abridged history.
After competing in SM and PL, I had to retire from competition due to sleep apnea in Q1 2019 as reigning GPC PL British champ and holder of two British records in PL. I won all of the competitions I entered in SM and PL.
With the pandemic and sleep apnea, I virtually stopped lifting and also dropped to TRT (and below at times due to experimentation) for a decent time. I didn't drop too much weight as I was over 105kg before I started lifting.
Anyhow, I am back now, lifting as often as I can and on self-administered TRT+ (last reading was 32 nmol/L). I tend to walk around at approx 115KG. Diet is whatever I want to eat whenever I want but I tend to eat healthy and well. I do not smoke, drink or take any recreational drugs. Training schedule is based on PPL but I lift whatever I want whenever I want. As I am now older, I tend to let my body dictate what to work and how heavy to go. Injuries preclude certain types of exercise so I tend to manage my body as well as I can. Weight lifting is now a pastime which I do only for fun and enjoyment. I do not have the time or desire to compete again. I am satisfied with my current physique too.
When I was a strength competitor the aim was to move the biggest weight as quickly as possible from A to B, now I will move a much lighter weight in a more controlled manner trying to spark as much hypertrophy as possible. Sets and reps are increased too. It took me a while to change my mindset to train this way. To be frank, I do not enjoy this type of training as much as previous methods but needs must.
I tend to train at least 4 times a week, sometimes more dependent on time and commitments. To be honest I would train every day if time permitted. As usual, I try to listen to my body but most people would state that I probably train too often and don't let my body fully recover. I just enjoy training though.
Medichecks Advanced Wellman results came back recently and all looked fine. I will post them up.
I don't have much time to spend on boards or social media any more so I will pop in when I can. If I get a chance some time, I'll whack some pictures up too.
