Why go fast on the up part of the rep? Just out of curiosity to hear your opinion. If I have a spotter, I like to spend a fair amount of time on the hardest part of the rep. Now, on heavy sets, this isn't really practical, but on 60-70% of your max sets, I feel like spending more time in the most difficult part of the rep could be beneficial.

Research has shown lifting the weight slowly is inferior to lifting the weight quickly.
Slow controlled down then drive it back up aggressively.

feel free to correct me but isnt the explosive drive from the bottom of a rep where the most motor units and hence fibres are recruited?

Of course you're correct....and most of the muscle damage is done during the negative.
So... slow down then explode up:D

No it would be a max of 10x10 or 10x6 minimum, heavier if 10x6

@MUTANT & @danny187 what are your opinions on tut 10 second reps?

So it goes as 5050? Or even 4150?

Too much or acceptable? (For rep range of 8-12)

Works for me and several I coach, people don't like them because they are hard , and via the explosive versus slow I find a mix is even better , using both explosive and controlled ascents
And just a little food for thought if explosive is so effective how come most power lifters are small in comparison to their strength and bb counterparts, I do think a blend is a lot productive

Yeah of course, plenty ways to skin a cat, me personally wouldnt do a 10 sec because of my concentration levls, my minf wanders lol

How do u find the standard 2 sec down 2 secs ip with a pause at either stage?

That's a regular rep to me well not quite but I don't think the difference is significant enough if your going to do tut IMO it needs to be slow
It's very hard creates a lot of discomfort and is very challenging mentally but IMO very effective 2 secs each way just isn't far enough removed from regular pace , the idea is to shock the muscle in a completely different way 2/2 to me just isn't different enough
