I don't take pre-workout as I workout late at night then have about 1 for 2-hours rest before I sleep

But I do drink loads of coffee and have red bull so I am asking how much caffeine is too much caffeine.

What do you guys recommend the safe limit to be. I ask in a bodybuilding forum because many people take pre-workout which have lots of caffeine as well as having coffee.

Pre workouts are usually about 200mg per serving which is absolutely fine. A coffee is about 25mg?

As long as you’re not going silly you’ll be fine with a few coffees and a preworkout.

I think the general medical consensus is 400mg total and 200mg in a single servicing being “safe” for healthy adults.

I spent a good year or so off caffeine and actually found it to be a revelation.

If I’m doing a heavy strength session for example squats or deadlifts I may take 400mg

Bodybuilding type stuff I just take 200mg so I’m not feeling sleepy

Too much caffeine inhibits getting a good pump apparently although I can’t say I’ve noticed myself

Some pre workouts have a ridiculous amount of caffeine and stims in now
For some reason, some people like to feel off their head before they train
    Every persons tolerance is different
If you're not feeling any negative affects
    Ie, not sleeping, anxiety etc
Its highly unlikely its damaging your health
Especially as its just a few coffees and some red bull

Caffeine and other stims constrict blood vessels which in turn restricts blood flow and less 02 to muscles, also why your BP could rise
Thats why vasodilators like citrulline are used in pre workouts to increase blood flow
Cialis is also very good for this and has other health benefits

It's just become a thing that everybody who goes gym takes a pre-workout. If I took a pre-workout at 11 at night when I workout then try to go to sleep 2 hours later I am not sure I would be able to sleep.
