Mixed bag today

Did 5 sets of 10 dips which is the best I've done to date. Not so hot on the overhead presses, felt quite weak doing them. A little disappointed. Might begin with them instead of the dips next session. Weighted pull overs to ab crunches felt good. Reverse crunches good. 1 min carries with 10 plates may have been too much to ask but did them anyway. The fact I trained when my mind wasn't quite feeling it felt like the right thing. There was nothing else wrong apart from that. Body felt rested so training gets done. A mixed bag.

Just how it goes sometimes, I was saying just a couple weeks ago my sessions were feeling 'grindy' and not as smooth or strong as I'd like with lifts. Could be any number of things from rest, nutrition to general joint/ tendon niggles. Possibly overdoing it, I don't know about you but I'm not as young as I once was lol with OH Press maybe switch out from bar or DBs to a machine for a couple weeks, less taxing overall and the change may do you good. For me it was mainly my bench, so I swapped the order around and trained delts heavy first to give chest a bit of a break.

Good that you're overcoming the internal battles of training when not quite feeling it, just don't overdo it!

Some days are just like that. Dips sounded solid though, nice one on hitting your best there. Overhead press can feel rough if you’re already a bit spent, maybe starting with it next time, like you said, could help. Carrying 10 plates for a minute sounds intense, fair play for doing it anyway.

Cheers for the input fellas. I'm 57 & as the poundage & reps increase it gets harder to train that's just how it is, I tell myself. Don' t listen to the little voice telling me to not train. Setting the kitchen up while preparing a coffee means training gets done. Think I'll settle at the current output for a month or two. Let my body get used to it. Got a little knee twinge during my last set of hex squats so called it a day at that early warning signal. Last thing I need is an injury. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

man up..grow a pair..ffs
do delts on another day, you do know delts are hit hard with dips? try doing side raises & bent over laterals instead of presses.
