I spoke to Simon about this a while ago, and was undecided, and I knew I'd not be consistent with it.

However, I will post up some of my training sessions, as there seems to be an interest in what I do, as it differs greatly from most.

I may end up posting more, but I'm not going to commit myself to putting up every session.

I have a couple of injuries, an impingement in my left shoulder, which has stopped me from benching, and affected all pressing for the last 3yrs, and a labral tear in my right hip.

These mean that my training is not as straight forward as it used to be, and on some things care needs to be taken, both injuries were caused by my stupidity and impatience, not my training style.

Tuesday 17th March (at Ripped Gym Basildon)

    Bench Press

    60kg x 5
    100kg x 4
    140kg x 1
    180kg x 1
202.5kg x 1 (not a max, more in the tank, 4th bench session in 2yrs)

Flat DB Press (never done these before, but seeing what my shoulder can handle)

    20kg x 10
    30kg x 10
40kg x 10 (all done very slowly, being super aware of the shoulder, but it seemed OK)

    Lateral Raises

    10kg x 6
    15kg x 6
    20kg x 6 - 15kg x 6 - 10kg x 6 (drop set)

Laterals were also irritating my shoulder so have only been able to do them recently and need to be super strict.

    Over Head EZ French Press

    50kg x 8
    80kg x 11 - 50kg x 7

    Job done.

Shoulder felt OK the next day, :)

Thursday 19th March (Canterbury University gym)

    Parallel Grip Chins

    Bodyweight x 8
    +20kg x 5
    +40kg x 7
    +30kg x 6

As mentioned above, I've been away for 2 weeks, and not done chins for 3-4 weeks, so this was a break in session, all done very strict without much strain.

Overhand grip chin to bellow the pecs

BW+10kg x 5 (just fucking about really, but was curious if I could do them weighted, I'll get a video next time).

DB Preacher Curls (arm fully extended, totally straight at the bottom)

    12kg x 6
    18kg x 5
    24kg x 3+1 assist
    20kg x 7+1 assist

DB Curls with 3-4 second negatives

    24kg x 8-9ish, (lost count)

    Job done.

Curls can irritate this shoulder if done with too much whole body effort, (not cheating), so I need to make them more difficult to limit the weight used.

On holiday I did 30kg DB curls for about 8-10 reps, as the DB's were nice, the ones at the Uni gym are not nice :)

My friend has had two surgeries for the same shoulder issue, and is still not 'fixed' my other friend, has had 4-5 labral tear ops, and it keep re tearing, so being very adverse to Dr's and hospitals, neither of those things give me much confidence to let people cut me up :)

Day to day they cause me no problems, and I'm now starting to be able to do a bit more at the gym with the bench, and I've also been front squattin but keeping my glutes tight all the way down, so at the bottom there is no stress on the hip joint, and this seems to be working great, no pain at all the next day.

So for now I'm satisfied with what I'm able to do, verses a potentially unsuccessful surgery.

4wks ago when I decided to bench for the 1st time in 2yrs, I had no idea how strong I would be,

    That day I just went

    60 x 5
    100 x 5
    140 x 5

And was pleased at how easy it felt.

I think this shows that with sensible, consistent training, a strength level can be developed that stays with you, even when not being trained for some time, almost as if your natural set point is kicked up a notch at various points throughout your lifting career.

For anyone interested, this is my condition as of 5 minutes ago, terrible picture, but the light in this room is also pretty terrible for photos.
