Onwards And Upwards

    Hello guys..

    Been a member here for a few years, some might remember me from UGM and muscle talk.

    Anyways long story short... Stopped training, settled down, bought house blah blah...

    Everything went tits up.. Almost ended up in prison for 2 years, lost my house, contemplated taking my own life, had a mental breakdown (drug related) basically went on a drink and drugs bender for last 18months.

    Now iv been completely sober for coming up 6 weeks (but cut down gradually from September) so I'm back training again every day... And I feel fucking fantastic for it. Got a new lease on life and ready to smash it... So thought I'd start keeping a training log here.

    My training split at the moment is PPL x 2 a week with one rest day.
    At the moment I'm on 5x5 routine which is working really well.
    I train early mornings, doing 40-60mins lifting with 30min incline treadmill walk at the end.

    Any questions fire away, any input would be greatly appreciated too

    So the left hand side was taking on boxing day 2019... The right hand side was 2yrs odd ago...

    I literally ballooned due to drinking, cocaine and constantly eating crap because I was hungover everyday...

    I took this just now... Doing abs and cardio this morning, so just over a month back in the gym

    Good luck mate, we have all had dark times in our life, the measure of a man is how he recovers and manages to fight back. Sounds as though you have started the fight back!!

    Thanks mate, don't get me wrong though.. I brought most of it upon myself, just at the time it was easier to Bury my head in beers and bags than sort my shit.
    But yes it certainly has been the darkest time of my life... But one thing I have realised... My situation was fuck all compared to others out there.

    I have my health, my family stuck by me the whole way and a beautiful new partner that has stuck with me through worst times.

    I was living Just outside Cardiff... Met my new partner and moved down to Devon for a fresh start with her.

    Another old ugm guy. Glad you're on the mend. It's literally a living hell that I hope everyone overcomes. Nice part o the world to move to aswell!

    So I prep all my meals Sunday, all boxed up ready to go...

    5am
    train

    7am
    postWO 50g of oats, 1 scoop whey and 4 whole eggs

    10am
    200g (raw) chicken, 100g (cooked) sweet potato, green veggies

    1pm
    Same as above but rice instead of sweet potato

    3pm
    Tin of mackeral or shake

    6pm
    200g (raw) beef, 100g of rice and veggies

    9pm 100g Greek yogurt or sugar free jelly

    Pull session did this morning.

    5x5 neutral grip pull ups with +15kg plate. Any failed, took weight off and did bodyweight to failure

    Kneeling straight arm pull downs 5x5

    Lat pull down 5x5

    DB rows 40kg 5 x failure

    Incline bench DB curls 22kg 5x5

    Pistol grip DB curls 20kg 5x5

    Back extensions with 10kg plate 5 x failure

    Finished up with 20mins incline tread mill (HR kept below 140bpm)

    No training this morning... Went to watch Keiserchiefs last night in Plymouth, fantastic night, it was last minute thing so even better.

    Felt weird being at an event without a beer, but coffee saved the day ha! I did however hit mcds on the way home... Quarter pounder meal with 2 x bacon chicken mayos

    So fasting this morning.. Just coffee until 10am... Skipping my eggs and oats

    Good luck mate. Sorry to hear about the dark times, but glad you’re on the mend.

    That’s a great comeback! Well done on the process.

    I remember you from UGM. A few of us still post, but it’s slow.
