    I hate this time of the year when the new year resolutions kick in and we get an influx of newbies.

    I know we all have to start somewhere… at least my gym is a proper men only bb gym and not a chain. Curling in squat racks, chatting on the phone taking up training space…

    Paul…deep breath… in with anger and frustration… out with tolerance, peace and love.
    Just don't fuck with me while i'm on tren LOL:D

    haha not a time for giant sets or fortitude...

    well actually not bad if its giant sets on a bench....as little equipment movement as possible....

    I do agree everyone has to start but some form of understanding is needed... these days its the pseudo PL/ ex crossfit types... who film every set.... 5 mins rest.....10 sets...... and are train together but not working in...like a team of 4 using all 4 racks.... signs usually a small beard, lifting shoes, lots of rogue compression stuff.... and one member of the team acting like he is the font of all lifting knowledge and fundamentals but yet struggles to lift anything reasonable him (or these days equally) herself

    Luckily for me, the gym I go to is 24/7 and puts a cap on membership levels so doubt I will see a change.

    I will feel like one of the New Years starters though. Havent had anymore than 5 days at home over the last two and a half months.

    There seems to be a powerlifting corner developing at my gym. It's just an excuse to do 3 sets spread across an hours workout though!

    The powerlifting gym that's basically a garage has closed down at Christmas so I'm stuck with the gym in town

    It'll be fucking heaving and full of cunts with no clue but what can you do

    Without the annual influx of newbies, a lot of gyms wouldn't exist.
    It's not new people a lot of gym members struggle with; it's the reduction of available equipment (for a brief time).
    Bring them in, I say.

    So true. Working out they need to be using 76.4% of their 1 rep max for sub maximal sets of 3. With bands!! Then accessory work.

    The amount of time I've had off and away from a commercial gym if I go back to X4L people will view me as the newbie who seriously needs to sort that dadbod
