why bother with these? why not just do lying leg curls & seated leg curls.
 
Stiff leg squats can’t be beat for overall leg development. Much better than the deadlift variation

yes but it´s not a squat, i mean why put your lower back at risk? I only use lying leg curls with squats. see no need for this exercise. why risk blowing a disc?

Stiff-legged deadlifts work the whole posterior chain, lying leg curls are more like bicep curls for the legs. Can’t really choose one over the other I’d say.

i understand this just thinking about the lower back here. I knew a guy who blew out his lower back with these. standing on a bench for a longer stretch. insane in my opinion.

These should be done to strengthen and develop the whole posterior chain.
If you hurt your back you are using too much weight.

These and seated good mornings will build a solid back if done correctly.

why seated good mornings? to isolate the lower back? i thought these were outdated. no one uses them where i train, good ok you look like a powerlifter.
 
Jp does them doesnt he...big advocate of the exercise...did lee preist do them or levrone why overtax your body when there's no need..times change...never seen nathen de asher do them either, not with 7 plates per side anyway.

i used to do them and later romanian style with unlocked knees but i just never got anything out of them. other stuff out there now. glute ham raises..etc.

Why squat when you can do leg extension?
i get your point but the lower back suffers in stiff legged deads much more than squats. i mean a squat is more natural but a stiff legged dead is not. look at the load on your lower back v´s benefits. I could sissy squat too & load my quads maybe more efficiently as a barbell squat. we are taliking about hammies here.

I understand you but why hold a bar behind your neck when seated? why not 45 degree hypers with a weight held in front?
not trolling here guys i am trying to understand or point out the risks Vs´s benefits to the muscle group you want to work.
