Stiff Legged Deads

You shouldn’t really feel stiff legs on the lower back that much. It’s a hip hinge and should be loaded in the glutes and hams. If your worried about lower back do single leg stiff legs with much lighter weight. Still get a great load in the stretch position but less risk.

i just find leg curls better & if i want to train lower back i use hypers. much safer. I see much less risk .

I understand you but why hold a bar behind your neck when seated? why not 45 degree hypers with a weight held in front?
not trolling here guys i am trying to understand or point out the risks Vs´s benefits to the muscle group you want to work.

To isolate the erectors better. I'd prob use a SSB too.

Forms off or you’re trying to lift too much in most cases when lower back issues come up on SLDL.

I guess it’s whether you believe in total load creating more stimulus whether you do them or not. Why deadlift when you can pull down, why squat when you can leg curl, why bench when you can do the pec dec.

All depends on purpose/goals and current physique/level of muscle development.

Eg skinny beginner - compounds best.
Seasoned trainer - could get as much out of isolation work without injury risks of heavy compounds.

Agreed. I just saw it more as question of why do people do them in general or as a question for someone fairly new starting out.

Strangely though I've always thought SLDL with bells or bb are safer than curls for me personally. The only times I've had ham string strains has been on curls but it may just be my body type.

yes i think you are right here.

I must admit i do not often do any kind of Deadlift but i think standard bent legged Deads are ok. I just don´t go heavy such as 5x5 or anything but prefer up to 12 reps. with heavy weight my lower back just feels tight the next day, hard to explain but lighter loads on them i feel much better. just me i suppose
