Been back training past few weeks and I am looking to start a strength program as I am basically weak and need some basic strength

Looked at Wendler - 5/3/1 and Easy Strength - Dan John but wondered if anyone had any suggestions/tips.

    A few points are

    1. I train at home - gym (when sorted) is well stocked
    2. I'm nearly 41 so no spring chicken
    3. Got a few old injuries - knee cartilage and shoulder but can train around them okay

I have wondered whether i am flogging a dead horse with strength considering the above.

    Cheers and thanks

Theres a Stronglift 5x5 app. Explains everything and sets it all up for you

Mate at your age I'd look at 5/3/1 but change the rep range a bit. Strong is relative. For example DC recommends anyone over 35 to be hitting a 13 rep max and basing numbers off that.
5x5 is solid if your fairly resilient. But if you have a few creaks and recovery isn't as good then 5s will quickly tear you down

I rate 531. Good routine and can easily adapt it to suit.

@Karbonk could probs offer some advice. He is same age as you and also trains at home and he has made some good progress.
