Blood pressure monitor

Looking at getting a blood pleasure monitor. Can anyone recommend a particular make that is good?

Whats the general consus on them? Reliable?

Will do mate cheers. Have found a list of 'approved' devices so will have a look through them
 
Also be aware mate that bp fluctuates during the course of the day best off taking x 3 readings 8 hours apart and taking the average of the 3

Get a Microlife one. They have the cuff up to 44 centimetters and they have this British Cardiology Society approved technique that takes your BP 3 times in a row and so called MAM . Great Swiss made product!
 
Thanks mick. Have never checked my own blood pressure before so will do as u say. 

Whilst i was off training i did have elevated blood pressure at one stage but it came down again. So is definately a concern before i start anything again. Cant believe i was stupid enough not to check it when i use to use gear
 
Got one but typically its too small cuff. Now waiting on large cuff which cost as much as the whole unit lol
 
mick is right, however a better why, which i have to do and is now NHS gold standard. is to take two readings am and two pm and do it for as long as possible, i would say a min on a week, 2 weeks is best. you then ignore day 1. then add up all of the 1st am readings, devide by the days u took then (exculing day 1), do the same for am 2, pm 1 and pm 2. the add all 4 numbers and divide by 4. u have your accurate BP figure

the cuff size is important as too small u will have an artifically high BP and too big, a artifically low BP
