The Dirty One - sept 2015 post blast poncing Pg 225

Busy day today.... early start so I got my 50 min walk in. Had a tutor meeting online with my boy at 10:45, made it for the gym just before 12 but didn't realise my shift started at 2 so all a quick turnaround.

A: Roller Wall Squats: 10xBW, x12.5s, x20s, 30s x16, 14, 12, 10
B: Leg Extensions: 185x20, 14, 11, 11
C: Seated Calf Press - IN: 143x22, 18, 17, 16
D: Upright Rows - Cable: 20s x20, 17, 15, 13

All moving well again today. This squat variation isn't a bad one. Same weight as last week (as they are the heaviest DBs) but managed a good few extra reps this week. Set me up well for a weight jump on exts, lost me a rep or 2 but did the extra set too so all good in the end and quads nicely frazzled. Calf work was solid, smashed some extra work out here and held pretty tight form wise too so that was good (not that it will make a blind bit of difference to my calves LOL) Then inished with some uprights, didn't force anything here as I was happy having a good shoulder for a couple of days, decent enough tho.

Nice DV, love your execise variations always good for some inspiration.

Never tried those roller squats before actually really like the thought of them. How do you rate them? What's the feel like?

Will deffo give them a shot. Closest I've tried is with a small swiss ball but tbh the distance from the wall can be an issue getting depth etc.

As for the calves - feel your pain on that one. What have you found has worked the best? Know a lot of people swear by high volume work every day.

I've not really done them long enough to be able to judge their effectiveness TBH. But I like their feel and the fact that it shifts me away from my hinge dominant squat style which is particularly useful from a quad targeted hypertrophy response. They are tricky when you near max because you cannot shift body position at all to get thru it... by then that's also their positive.

Calf wise I have no secret or answer. I've done every load, frequency and volume variation there is with next to no difference. If anything I edge towards volume as I do with everything and a bit more frequency and essentially do them every other training day

I can imagine your Mrs face when she gets back after her op and you show her the iso tent in the back garden.Just get her a little camping stove and some tins of beans and she's sorted.

Back massage whilst squatting ......that's a good idea tbh.

Shoulder still feeling good?

Not perfect but yeah, considering how much it flared up the other day it's been quite good since.

Mrs is currently googling every bad thing you can read about hip ops LOL it'll be along wait for the op

She will scare herself shitless googling that lol.Surely they can't make her wait that long for the op.

Then again....

Average wait pre-CV19 was....... 249 days. So yeah, they can and probably will make her wait forever.

She fvcking googles everything and then expects me to answer all her questions LOL

So here we are, final session of this block. I think this block has gone quite well, felt I hit the ground running even being on a cut and got some good work in. Probably spread the deload out now to get me back in the old gym for the start of the next training cycle, but we'll see. 10 days so should easily spread 8 session out over that period, if not longer. 1 more week of my blast left and a few days of tbol tabs so all rounded off quite nicely I think.

Morning cardio done for a good 50min again this morning before have brekky and heading off.

A: Cable BB Rows: 20x20s, 15x30s, 10x40s, 50s x18, 16, 14, 13
B: V Bar Pull Downs: 143x18, 15, 13, 11
C: Cable BB Drag Curls: 20s x20, 18, 15, 15
D: Spider Hammer DB Curls: 15s x20, 17, 15, 15
E: Incline Cable Press: 15x35s, 45s x24, 17, 14, 12

The usual pinchy shoulder on rows but TBH maybe not quite as bad so going well for a peak week in terms of how it has behaved. Same weight and 4 reps on rows. Up a full pin on VPD and managed to keep reps up quite well so the extra set put me nicely up work wise. Drag curls stayed on 20 a side, just a couple of extra reps tho this week. Spider curls were good tho, a strong start and little drop off. Finishing presses took me by surprise, warm up set felt really uncomfy on my shoulder, work set felt smooth as fvck and banged out +4 reps!!! so finished a high.

I hope she has decent pain meds.. that's not good at all ,you see because your a BB you automatically know all about medical procedures LOL.

Love the way you totally ignored the out of use sign, nice high repping session dude.

Only 1 week left on the blast Jesus that's flew over the deload should help with the shoulder especially as it's starting to niggle a little bit now.

It will be a shock to the system when you get back to your old gym

Hows your cycle been buddy?

Higher anabolics any good?

Laughing at iso tent for missus ... and googling negative experiences - cant imagine thats the most positive approach for her mindset

Thanks for the reply mate. Much in the same boat there like, have just learned to accept them as they are.

Was one of those lads who never wore shorts etc because of it...now...fuck it lifes too short.

From a health POV calves play a massive roll in lower body circulation etc. so it's never wasted time at all.

As for your lasses hip op - yes very scary especially when you watch the video's etc of it being done. But reality is the 4 people I know who have been through it...it has changed their lives mate absolute night and day. And surprisingly enough they were back on their feet in no time. The way they deal with the whole thing now has come a long way from 10 years ago. Hoping it gives her a new lease of life as it's agony.

Can't believe the blast is coming to a close. Where has the time gone man...I'm just getting properly caught up!

NM: I tell her the same mate, I know a similar number of people who have had a new hip and not one of them has even a hint of a negative comment on their experience. But she's not interested in that

Mick: It's been good. Hard to give a true account as I've been cutting but training has been progressive while on restricted cals and with daily cardio and I've felt on top form... interestingly I have not had my usual churning guts and squits which I get whatever I have run before, even without orals. I'm just about the leanest 98kg I have probably been.

Rad: Gym isn't open yet so the OOO signs are just decoration for now but it's for social distancing not because they are broken.

We've hit that time of the month again where the Mrs has decided for the 6th time this year to give up smoking, warned me she'll struggle so not to react to her fvckery, to then start acting like a complete fvcking bell end b!tch as if she has a free pass to be a cvnt and I'm wrong if I bite. Glad I'm back at work, just a shame I have 3 days off LOL And to rub salt in the wound 2 of my mates are up from London and we are arranging a catch up. We only ever see each other once or twice a year and last time I nearly divorced the Mrs as she was so fvcking OOO about it.... well, today wasn't the day to have them call again. Told them I'm up for it but let me see how the land lies and what our plans are, so I tell her they are up, immediately she flies off about me arranging a day out without even asking her and how selfish I am.... I mean WTF. Eventually calms down enough to say I can go (ooh, thanks for the permission) followed up with a sarcy 'thanks for asking but no I won't come'... A) that's cos I don't want you there LOL and B) you don't like one of them and you don't know the other one... all calm now but she'll wind herself up before I meet them tomorrow lunchtime for sure.

But amongst all that we got the grocery shopping done without killing each other (she did wonder why I wasn't talking much), TBH tho I couldn't even ask what she fancied for dinner this weekend without getting a load of attitude because she wasn't in the mood and didn't know or care. Well, she didn't know or care until I picked something up and got an earful cos she doesn't want that... so we have nothing for the weekend and I'll just get fish and chips I guess LOL. We also hit the gym and got my deload in

A: Pulley GMs: 20x35s, 12x50s, 15x60s, 75s x17, 15
B: Seated Ham Curl: 185x20, 15
C: Calf Press - toes out: 120x20, 17, 15
D: Wrist Curls - Bar: 15s x20, 20, 20

Not much to say really, it was a quiet one, kept my head down, got the basics done, all nicely within 5RIR limitations. Everything moving nicely tho. Try and nick a session in tomorrow but on Sunday we have the hairdressers so won't get much done training wise then unless I can get some cardio in at some point.

Wish me luck for the weekend

Great to hear that mara on the cycle

I never run test higher than 300mg pw now - find everything more positive with higher anabolics in there

I'll give it another go as I just have. Maybe switch the tbol up for var then switch the Deca for tren over winter. Got have a few runs before you can truly judge ;op
