Brilliant mate, thank you. Great to be here, I’m 41 used to train until had children and looking to get back into it after a years… I feel as if I’ve got low test and have had some bloods done, is there anyone that can look at these who has experience in this area and maybe provide any advice at all please? Been a while since took a course but feel as if may have some issues? I feel tired a lot of the time, not much strength anymore and just low mood/motivation, ED and low libido etc. Any advice greatly appreciated, Dr won’t help further as says I’m in range but we all know what that means.
That was my first blood test, after doing a little training just press ups and a few squats I had a updated bloods test which included shbg, please see as attached. Thanks and let us know your thoughts, I'm hoping to get back into training after Xmas but worried that the longer I leave it the worse it may be... not to mention the problems with low T can cause! And can training with the T as it is now cause more problems?
Sorry for delay.. Work/ uni and family... Where are the results ? There's only a very basic test for test. And cholesterol there.. How old are you mate? Bf levels etc Can't comment on the results are the panel you got is the most basic possible Medichecks do a through blood test privately if you pay.
Normal Serum Test Range is [8 to 30] Your first test result was [9.6], your second was [10.8] I can barely read your SHBG because it's blocked out by some ads in your screenshot But Normal SHBG Test Range [14.55 to 113.3] and your result was 16 Your Thyroid Stimulating Hormone was also on the low side. The symptoms and emotions you describe make sense to me based on the above readings. As you said, your doctor probably won't do anything - you're just barely scraping the bottom of the barrel of acceptable. I was in a similar scenario with my thyroid, GP wouldn't do shit - so I self-medicate. That has been a game changer for me - my wife frequently remarks on how much happier and motivated I became.
Thanks mate, 9.6 and 10.8, will have another test in due course to see if that's changed anything... Yes shbg was 16 too, what should TSH be? Can you please advise me how you self medicate with this and what would be beneficial at all please, yes I'd love to be happier too, it's a pain and I just don't get what's wrong, how is thyroid low? What causes this please? And is this why throat is a bit of a mess and I feel sick at times too, drink water and get sickness feeling at times. Now I know low test is an issue since chatting to some of the lads too lol lol, but Dr will just say normal range bla bla bla lol. Please let me know any advice again, thanks so much mate
No problem mate, I'm 41 haven't trained for a good few years since started a family... finding it difficult to sleep and have a lot of feeling sick at times. Yes I'll get a full blood test done through a company like medichecks in due course... test was previously... 9.6, then after a little training at home only, press ups squats etc... changed to 10.8, shbg is 16... please see convo with Arterial Dan, he advises TSH is low too so if anyway I can increase this or the test it may help please?
Hi mate, please let us know your thoughts whenever possible and what you did to help your thyroid etc or test

Not possible say what TSH should be for you - the reason ranges are given is because it's different for everyone. However, It is possible to say that your reading is on the low side of the acceptable range. And perhaps low-ish for a 41 year old male but genetics and lifestyle has a big effect, so can't say that with certainty. There are various reasons that can happen - like if you've been sleeping poorly, fasting, dieting hard to drop bodyfat, doing a lot of cardio, under a lot of pressure/stress, abusing alcohol/drugs, taking some other form of medication etc. Men tend to bounce back from thyroid issues faster and more consistently than women do, so I would expect your reading to improve as your lifestyle improves. If you try to improve your lifestyle but the readings don't improve, then the probability increases that there is a medical issue. Have you spoken to your GP about the throat and sickness issues? Your GP should address those immediately. In terms of how to self-medicate, that's not straightforward (or cheap). And I'm slightly concerned about some of the other issues you've mentioned. Your GP needs to assess those first before you do anything - I'd advise you to put more pressure on your GP first. Before you attempt to self-medicate for low test or low thyroid, you should be confident that you don't have any other medical problems - particularly cardiac. In your case, the best approach might be to intentionally wreck your readings so that they come in below the acceptable range and therefore your GP is forced to treat you. That might involved a prolonged fast for example (7 days). But you need to get the other concerns addressed first.
