Just wondering your thoughts and approaches to deloads? How much do you drop the weight? Do you change rep range? In the past I’ve just gone from 10reps to 20reps for a few weeks and obviously dropped the weight to accommodate the rep increase. Thanks
Do them religiously nowadays. Every 6 weeks. Tend to use the weights I train with in week 1 of my block. Usually around 5 reps in reserve on compounds, maybe 1 or 2 more than that. 2 sets.
I was running a deload every 10/12 weeks basically would drop the weights down to around 40/50% of my last heavy week and do 3 or 4 sets of 8 reps. Now doing a routine which incorporates a high rep low weight session so probably won't need to run a deload.
Other than peaking for a comp or resting afterwards I don't tend to bother. Was off for 6 weeks after last comp. It was 7 days before Christmas and I ended up with covid. Then we had a holiday booked. Definitely lost size and strength but enjoyed the break and felt hungry for coming back. Active deloads I don't do though.
