OxyContin. Seriously spent the last 5 years pretty much in the grip of serious addiction to these painkillers - so incredibly strong, managed to get off them in Feb this year, but it’s a daily battle. It started with a legit script from the Drs - it’s the same thing pretty much half of the USA was on at some point. Gave up cocaine too but that was nothing more than a slight craving - like craving a bacon sandwich when hungry. I’d have punched my Nan in the cunt to stave off the Oxy withdrawals once upon a time. Lockdown made it harder if anything, as I had a nice little routine going on and had started training again for the first time in years, and all that disappeared overnight, couple of relapses, 3 weeks in a mental hospital and I’m doing OK now (until next time....)

    Sorry to hear that mate.

oxy is the one drug I could see myself addicted too. It’s the only drug I’ve actually craved for.

It’s horrendous (/amazing). I was prescribed 200mg a day on a repeat script for years but taking 3 x that as I would get it elsewhere. I still “functioned” altho that depends what your idea of functioning is ha

That’s a lot of Oxy! They’re not that cheap either.
I found it really dangerous as you don’t even know your high till you wake up the next day and think wtf, but a line makes you forget that lol
I remember when 10mg would give me a lovely buzz, them were the days when a 80mg would last a couple of days....that didn’t last long.

Yeh I started on 20mg twice a day, and I used to feel SO good on that. Towards the end I could get through a strip of 14 x 80mg’s in a day - and ‘think’ they weren’t affecting me. I had a good little network of people selling prescriptions and my own, and I justified it to myself as it was prescribed but accepting it was addict behaviour and what a huge problem it was, was the first thing. Looking back I cringe and feel such shame for how I’ve gone on and what I’ve lost especially in terms of time wasted and where I am in life & where I’d be if I’d not wasted 5+ years. I’m lucky to be here all things considered so “1 day at a time” as they say

Gave up smoking. Only started last December mind at 28.. odd age to start but my Mrs at the time did so just became habit doing it with her. So about 18-19 months smoking

just quit cold turkey 3 or so weeks ago

don’t know what all the fuss is about with quitting... want to stop smoking? Don’t buy cigarettes.. job done that’s my
    Rationale anyway

I wish it was that easy mate lol, I've heard it said it can be as difficult as trying to come off H, pity Tac doesn't post any more, his addiction knowledge was second to none (and some truly funny/horrific stories too).

Aye I get it’s not as easy for most.

Tell you what the hard part is the fixation. Like having something to do with my hands when I’m walking around etc

Tell my Mrs, she quits every 3 months or so and lasts may be 2 days if she's really dialed in LOL And she only smokes about 4-6 a day, I don't get it. I smoked a shed load a day, every day, for years and like you RMK, I just said that was it one day and never had a problem

Now I’ve quit her breathe repulses me and I’m very sensitive to the smell so have suggested she vapes but the fucking thing will never be out her hand.

I have noticed my male friends gave it up much easier than any lass I know. They seem to be much more ‘stress’ smokers IMO

I always had grape/menthol cigs so just like the taste lol normal smokes give me the boke so when the menthol ban came in May it was no problem.

Smoked cafe creme cigars for a month or so after. Just after a drink/meal. Rather enjoyed them and made me look cool obviously

Oh aye no doubt. It’s not the fag itself I want it’s the act of doing it I seem to miss. Slave to ritual I guess..

I actually have a CBD vape knocking about I never got round to using might dig it out.

after reading around 100 people die a year from choking on byro pens I wonder how much were smokers giving up ha
