Pre-workout - need your advice

Anyone remember bodytronics red mist? fucking red all right i ended up with a rash al over me and itching like mad, felt ill for hours afterwards lol

Some folk get a reaction, i was ok with jacked and no xplode, tried a turbo sample and it floored me after training, shaking and sweating , heart going like the clappers, im a big pansy
This sort of thing is what has steered me clear in the past. lol I'd be the pansy on the floor I'm sure.

#2 gym sessions today - 2 x 100mg caffeine (half a 200mg tablet I have already) - no side effects other than energy :lift: not stupid amounts to make me hyper but enough. ;)

Feel a bit daft now as never thought to cut them up that was @daddy1 's idea :thumb:

Thanks for your input though guys - I might add in a supplement later if caffeine stops working for me. Cheaper this way as I have a tub of 200mg tablets from bulk powders and guess it's just like having a strong coffee.

Bottle of Lucozade in the car on the way to the gym. Coffee afterwards.

had lucozade in the car on sunday.. what is in it apart from sugar.. I'm off to check a bottle I didn't drink. lol
I think it's more of a psychological boost than an actual energy burst. Seems to get me through the front door at least...

I've got a mood disorder that knocks my energy for six / insomnia etc so training can be a bit tired - I am a low level strength lifter and looking to improve / get stronger, so realise that with caffeine and comp yesterday I lifted heavier, so I'm clearly able to do it if i can fire things up in the right way, but gym training time isn't showing this. I was just thinking of something mild really not full hyped up tear it up sort of thing. Just something to keep me going.

On the basis of mood disorder and insomnia/sleep deprivation I'd try 2-3g L-Tyrosine on the morning of training days and then again pre-workout. Tyrosine has been shown in studies to boost dopamine (it's a dopamine precursor) and to negate the negative symptoms of sleep deprivation. As a pre workout it gives a definite non-gittery boost to mental drive if taken in high enough dose. It also mildly elevates thyroid hormone, and although this may increase the sensation of warmth slightly there is no evidence (that I'm aware of) that it's actually boosting metabolic rate or fat burning in any way - the stim effect is cognitive rather than physical.

Is it a supplement on it's own or in things?

Sounds really interesting, I take it it wouldn't be a problem in a tested federation? I'll do some research into it too but figured you'd likely know.

Edited to add found it in 500mg form via holland and barrett so sounds pretty over the counter - fat burning would be fine I have fat to burn. lol just whether it's seen as a stim by my federation.

Thanks :)

I'd be very surprised if it's a banned substance - is a simple non-essential amino acid found in food and not testable. It's not going to give dramatic performance boosting effects, but it does have a cognitive effect under stress conditions.

Is not well tested at all as a pre-workout however which somewhat surprises me so I can only give a personal anecdotal recommendation - I like it at around 3g, where it gives a slight subtle buzz and desire to want to go for it during exercise. The buzz takes around twenty mins to hit after taking, builds slowly, and lasts 2-3 hours. I only like to use it occasionally though because you do get used to it.

Thanks :) they do the powder in bulk powders but recommend 400mg as a pre-workout along with caffeine but obviously being a powder I could use the recommendation you've made. I'll have a look but amino's are normally ok so sounds like a great idea to try. I could sure use something as my nerves were a nightmare and nearly stopped me competing on sunday, even on the day they were really bad. Literally shaking! I am sure next time will be easier, but it'd maybe also help me when I need energy for uni as my bipolar and insomnia

Have a look at musclexcess hbomb, all the products were hand designes by one of the guys that owns the company and gave me a break down of why each ingredients in it. Cheesy to say but the products have genuinely been made with love lol.

Not a shameless plug either!

300mg caffeine and I'd be twitching I think lol 200mg and my breathing is off at times. I took 100mg today and noticed the difference - I don't take caffeine in anything else apart from occasional diet coke which I gave up. lol
