Arm Weakness

Hi new here
Injured my shoulders about 2 years ago now and been in and out of the gym ever since because of the pain. Anyway my arms feel very weak now for some reason, yes I get that I am going to lose some strength due to taking some time off but my arms just feel so much weaker than any other part of my body, they fatigue way quicker and are very shaky when lifting. Don’t know if this is to do the shoulder injury or something else but it’s weird that my arms are so weak but nothing else is.
Would be interested and thankful for your opinions

Have you seen a doc, or physio etc ?
That's really your best option mate, anyone here is only going to be guessing tbh.
What was your shoulder injury, could well be related, could be nerve issue...
how long you been back in the gym, could just be the down time and getting going again.
many things really.
You might get some suggestions but see your doc, see a physio would be my advise if not just starting up lifting again.

Seen doc and physio many times over the 2 years and nothing really helped. Had had MRI’s on neck and shoulders. Both seem to be fine. The pain is in both shoulders and upper traps which makes me think it’s probably a postural issue, lots of clicking and crunching as well in my shoulder, neck and upper back. But the arm strength thing was not due to not being in the gym much because a while ago one day my arms just felt knackered, fatigued and just so weak, I gave them rest and they never really recovered, they’re are just way behind every other body part strength wise.

What were they looking for on the MRI?

Weakness in the arms potentially caused by shoulder/neck issues suggests to me there may be some nerve issue? Such as a nerve or nerves being trapped or compressed

Would nerve issues show up on an MRI?
And how would I go about sorting it out if there was a nerve problem?

Not necessarily

You explained the arm thing to your doctor?

Yes had bloods done today just to rule out some sort of nutrient deficiency or something , but that’s a bit of a long shot. Also might try a chiropractor as is it could be a postural issue. But Yh thought I’d come on here to see if anyone had a clue because I’ve tried a lot of things and it’s getting really annoying now.

I had issues in my right arm, trap sunk on one side, numbness in fingers and head aches. There was also some weakness. Worked with a chiropractor who also did acupuncture and she sorted me out in 6 weeks. Turned out it was the nerve running down my arm causing most of it including what I thought was CTS and some trapped nerves in my neck. I remember feeling the whole thing fizz when she gave me acupuncture in the upper arm and never having the numbness from that day on. She also completely evened up my traps and upper back.
It may not be what’s up with you but it’s always worth a shot if you can find a good one and at least it’ll rule something else out for not much cost

Sounds like a nerve prob to me as well, cirvical spine issues will give pain in traps and shoulder and arm weakness, i have very poor strength in overhead press these days, very weak in that movement.
I do get numbness and tingling in right arm and fingers at times, i wonder if op get similar symptoms.

Yes definitely going to try a chiropractor then and look into nerve issues. Appreciate you telling me this because sounds very similar. Thanks

If everythings ok, I think you can try some healing peptides. It may help, but I am not that sure cause it has been a longtime since the injury.

I feel weakness in my arm after driving for a long time and I try to have ibuprofen. It works like a charm but again we cannot go for it every time we have pain so, I go for a warm water bath to ease up the pain.

It sounds like your arm weakness could be related to compensations or imbalances from your shoulder injury, especially if you’ve been favoring other muscles to avoid pain. Shakiness and quick fatigue might also point to a loss of neuromuscular connection or stabilizer strength. Have you worked with a physical therapist? They can help pinpoint specific weaknesses and create a plan to rebuild strength safely. In the meantime, starting with light, controlled movements like isometric holds or band exercises might help rebuild stability and strength without straining your shoulders.
