Macronutrients - Advice

I just wanted to ask if my nutrition was correct. I was bulking and my PT set my macros to 40/35/25 carbs/protein/fats. On a 4000kcal diet.

I’m now starting a cut cycle, and I’ve calculated these to be 35/35/30, reducing the calorie intake to 3400. Does this sound right? Any advice would be

sorry I don't follow,
you can have a 40/35/25 split of any calorie amount.
well you can have any macro split 40/30/30...whatever.
why do your macro amounts have to change ?
personally I'd keep my protein the same or even higher on a cut.

maybe I've missed the point here mate ?

Yeh
No need to change macros really
If the bulking split worked well then stick with it
It will be the calorie deficit that dictates weight loss, not the 5% less carbs
Without knowing much about you then
35-40% protein and a 600cal deficit looks like a good place to start

thanks for the reply. Sorry I might not have explained it correctly, I want to find the optimum % Macro for carbs/protein/fat now I’m cutting. When I was putting on weight I was given a meal plan of 4000calories, and the macros were 40/35/25.

I thought the macro split had to change so you start dropping the fat and keeping the muscle. I’ve lowered the calories is a 35/35/30 split optimal?

nice one, appreciate your advice

Dont overthink it too much mate
Especially at this early stage, it may be effective at very low levels of body fat but right now I would say there is no 'optimal' macro split
Simply, a well structured and consistent diet and training plan and a calorie deficit as you are will be the most optimal

That would mean you’ve lowered your protein then if you’re eating as a percentage of calories yeah? I’d hold the grams of protein the same and lose the calories from the other 2 to start.

Thanks for all your advice, really appreciate the responses. I’ll hold the proteins and put it all into MyFitnessPal.
