Hello everyone! I have just joined here.
My training partner in the gym has been suffering from persistent rotator cuff injury for last couple of years. I think it started from bench press. It’s nothing serious but stops him from taking a bit more risk and going heavier.
The problem is sometimes it disappears but then randomly comes back again. So he doesn’t think it’s serious but it is impacting his training.
Anyone had an issue like this before?

Hey mate! Welcome to the forum!

Rotator cuff injuries are extremely common and do have a tendency to come back.

I found an old thread on this topic. Have a look. Would welcome any thoughts from others.

Has he had it scanned?

Get some good physio, bpc 157 and tb500. Some curcumin, decent fish oil and other anti inflammatory supps if funds alow.

Work on mobility and get properly warm before training.

All the above will help massively. The scan will just determine the degree of injury and if any surgical intervention would be necessary

Are you certain it was bench press that caused it?

Overhead Press from behind the neck can cause Rotator Cuff injuries, press from front of head, off chest.

Lat Pull Down to behind the neck can cause Rotator Cuff injuries, pull down in front of head onto chest!

There could well be one exercise causing it, try and find out which one....
