Knee/elbow sleeves

Deads

because i like to pull, ay it
I recently moved away from bb'ing in favour of powerbuilding. Lifting is pretty heavy now and im havin trouble with my left elbow and knee. Theyve been a problem for a few years now but i need some support/warmth kept in them now.

Ive got knee wraps but i dont want somthing to help my ego i need to protect the joint and want to keep lifts raw. Theres a few choices, basic sleeves, sleeves with a hole in and sleeves with velcro wraps. Can anyone advise the best way to go?

Have a look at https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/

Their own brand stuff is well respected in the strength world, particularly the double ply stuff.

The oldschool Rehband blue knee sleeves are prob the warmest you can get, still see plenty of them worn in strongman comps.

will you be competing in any powerlifting meets? if so just be aware that only a few brands are allowed.

Usual usage goes along the lines of

Full Sleeves during warm up, pyramiding up

Wraps during heavy sets

You really get what you pay for with wraps ime.

I bought very good Inzer wraps years ago from the States and they have lasted all this time, a lof of the other straps and stuff have snapped in no time.

It's pretty important to actually wrap the joint properly, there are some good vids on the net that show correct wrapping

Yeah i know bud, doubt i'll compete but i would still rather keep things as raw as possible. Nothing that actually helps me to lift more weight,. Hence why im avoiding heavy wraps.

What do you use?

Dont really want to wrap anymore bud as it defo helps me lift more as opposed to just supporting/warming the joint.

Wrist tendons have been playing up too. Immense pain when i release the bb when benching....

Dont think im warming up properly or perhapa im just pushing too hard too quickly

I had the wrist tendon thing in the past, but I used to get it at 140k pyramiding up and it would be ok again at a single of 190k.

You might be right that it's a warming up thing, but I always found I'd be too fatigued for singles if I did too much work on the lower set.

I think it comes from gripping extremely tight? (I assume you're using chalk anyway, but obviously if you're not, then start)

I get a lot of pulling on the tendons in my right wrist whenever I chin. If I wrap really tight, I have no problem, but If I've forgot my wraps that day, I won't chin at all. Not worth the risk, snapped too many tendons during the years of heavy lifting.

Buy shit, buy twice. Strength shop one are ok. but you'd be better off (well, you wouldn't cos they cost a fortune!) buying Rehband.

Don't know if I got some odd-sized ones from Strengthshop but they were ridiculously tight.

Using their knee sleeves on my elbows instead now.

i have rehband knee sleeves but i also compete equipped so have suits, shirts, wraps. the rehband sleeves are pretty good. you really should compete mate. certainly strong enough.

Rehband aren't that expensive mate.

Never had any issues with any of my SS gear tbh.

Would be an idea guys, be a while until im fully off aas though and i wont be able to compete with guys on heavy cycles.

Thanks for the compliment though.

NH do you have any links for good strongman advice bud? Warming up/set structure ect?

Definitely go with the Rehbands (the blue ones) for knee sleeves.  Overpriced, but they'll last you well and I love them.

For elbow sleeves, I have the basic fabric ones from strengthshop which cost about

Good point gator, abit more structure would do me good instead of peaking all the time.

Cheers bud
