Gravity strider

My wife has arthritis of the lower back, knock on effect is it affects her hips and knees,as far as exercise goes even walking is becoming a problem,a mile nonstop is about her limit.

Looking for some sort of exercise she can do and came across gravity striders, which are low impact.

Watched a few vids and they look pretty crap but read a few reviews and they say they are good for cardio.

Anyone used one before?

Not tried one mate.

Could some sort bike work...either one where you are laying back a bit of one where you sit upright and use hands?

Anything that involves bending the knees with resistance is uncomfortable mate.

I cannot see it would help as the twisting of her upper body against her lower body may cause more back pain. Probably a cycle trainer adjusted properly would be the lowest impact

my old man was riddled with arthritis, the specialists strongly recommended swimming. also weights, stronger muscles taking pressure off the joints.

Not sure what you mean by twisting, its pretty much just moving the legs and arms back and forth.

Yeah the specialist she saw said the same thing, swimming isn't really an option though,up until a year ago she was doing a weight program at home but her hips have deteriorated that much that even bodyweight stuff is painful now,so we are at a bit of a loss what to do.

It is but due to opposing hands and feet they will twist at the core including lower back so may be more painful

Where as cycling can have a lot bigger variety in intensity too

Cycling was also something my old man was recommended but for me it causes bad knee pain. Constant burning sensation behind the knee cap. Tendon issue I think. Def worth looking at though.
