What's Bodybuilding Done For You

apart from looking a little better and having a good understanding of nutrition

i lost my femoral vein and circulation was awful, every scan i get to check on things lots of the little surrounding veins are getting bigger almost everytime and have a very healthy bloodflow despite always being told that i wouldnt have and it was dangerous etc....well....the hosp put it down to training anyway....so thats always one reason il never give it up unless i physichally need too

Gave me a lighter bank balance

I think its probably improved mine.

Gym membership £40/month.
Additional Food - £100/month, if that as I now know where to get high quality meat at low prices.

Well worth it. Whilst I am thinking about epilepsy, have you also checked out NAC (myprotein do a good deal on this ).

NAC has some great effect both in theory and IME with reducing the damage from excitotoxicity in bipolar spectrum which shares many similarities with the excitotoxicity seen in epilepsy. Although it won't affect (AFAIK) the probability of seizures it may reduce the feelings and harm that follows after a seizure.

Do you think most of your health issues have been due to steroids and training or that it would have all happened anyway?

This sort of attitude, even from others that train makes me laugh!

I Lift, Im sick, I took steroids, therefore it must have been the steroids that made me sick!!!

What about all the other shit I did, the drinking, the late nights the shit food, pain relief etc etc all done to excess, yet it had to be the steroids!

Soon as steroids are mentioned people lose sight of every other cause that it could possibly be, that includes medical community, which is why best not to tell them, ever!

If I was to put a scale on damage caused by AAS alone, 1-10 would give a 2-3.

Other things would get far higher scores, everything compounded, well there you go!

Still seems to be a lot of people dropping dead again. All apparent prolific users. But ofcourse, that's just assumptions and theres no clue about other stuff.

Is it steroids, or the effect of steroids?

Human body probably isn't meant to be 180kg of mostly muscle, that's got to be a strain on the ticker...

Anybody who's been on TM more than 5 mins knows I'm not anti gear. It works well. I know.

My endocrinologist isn't judgmental about gear use in principle - many people do much more harmful things.

But he's concerned that too many bodybuilders are having strokes and heart attacks because of gear use - which doesn't appear in the medical statistics for obvious reasons.

THE most significant danger from steroids is too high a RBC (haematocrit).

This is common, even in younger and fitter bodybuilders and with moderate doses, and since they rarely get their bloods done at appropriate times most will never know until it's too late.

But without the steroids these guys wouldn't be 180kg of mostly muscle. Or very probably wouldn't would they? So it could be said that it is the PED's?

Don't get me wrong, im not anti steroids at all. Just opening discussion.

180kg of mostly fat would be far more dangerous...

Becoming unfit when getting big is not directly due to gear.

High RBC often is.

A prolific user of AAS generally does not become a prolific user of AAS without having the same attitude to AAS as other compounds!

Most prolific users as you put it, are prolific users of a lot of things, and being prolific users of lots of things creates problems which require prolific uses of even more things and so on!

Most of these deaths, if you delve deeper will find history of all sorts substance abuse\use

Pros

Got out of old drug habits

Cons

Helped develop new drug habits

The irony is that it's probably more socially acceptable to do a bit of coke or MDMA at the weekend than it is to do steroids.

Being a drug cheat is far worse than using them to escape from the hell of reality every weekend!
