Blood Pressure: measurement, assessment and treatment

That sounds awfully high, surely that can't be good even for short periods of time?

Simon I think Mars is joking mate - hence the Dbol reference

(mind you a pre bp Dbol could produce a reading like that!)

Thanks Paddy I've just ordered one of these :)

Just had a look at this myself, you do realise that the cuff only goes up to 42cm (about16.5 inch) it also says in the FAQ section that you cant get a bigger cuff, this was from 2009 so dont know if the have made one by now. Just something you might want to look into.

The M6 Comfort - not just the plain M6 - comes with a cuff big enough to fit 20"+ biceps.

I know - I have one.

Monitor arrived today, nice bit of kit thanks for putting me on to it :)

I'm finally going to order one. Had cardiac screening last week and it was 160/100 in the hospital (some serious white coat syndrome). Ten mins later was 155/95 still in the hospital.
Normal at home is about 140/85, but at the weekend on my dad's monitor it was 135/75.
So basically its all over the place. My mate is a GP and he also recommended the OMRON, they use them in the surgery.
Stow

Oh and I'm back at hospital this Friday to go on the treadmill, but that was planned anyway

Quick blood pressure update, hovering around 125/75 hopefully this is a little better than before!

home testing kits are very handy. it is very easy to become obsessed with checking your BP though, which of course just makes it higher. my wife is a GP and advises to use them with caution.
