Cramp in quads.

For the last few days I've been getting cramp in my left quad really bad, I've done nothing out of the ordinary, all of a sudden my left quad cramps up for about 20 minutes, this happens about 10 times a day and when it happens I'm on the floor in agony.

Any ideas chaps?

It's actually his sodium levels he needs to watch too.

How much salt do you have in your diet? ? ?

I tend to steer clear of salt Gaz, I'm not a salt lover at all. The only time I have salt is on a poached egg which is very rare indeed maybe once a fortnight.

I've had a couple of bananas today I'll see if that helps beating the cramps, when my legs decide to cramp I can't move them at all, I can't even pull my feet back to stretch the muscle.

Ok Nidge.

When does the cramp actually come about, is it after you have trained, or done exercise? ? ? If so, how long after and what movements? ? ?

One quick question - how old are you, and do you / have you ever smoked?

41 mate and I do like a ciggy every now and then.

Ok Nidge.

Hi Gaz, it can happen anytme of the day mate, it doesn't happen when I've trained it can start 4-5 hours after I've trained and last the rest of the day on and off.

Based on what you've said above I'd go and discuss it with your GP - tell him/her what you've said above, there maybe a few things they'll want to check.

Don't panic by this - this is an erring on the side of caution type post. I believe it's important to go and get it checked though.

I was thinking that this morning, touch wood it's not happend as yet, they usually kick in by now but I've gone all day without a cramp attack. I'll see how I go on for the rest of the day no doubt I'll get one before I go to bed tonight.

That's certainly good news - hopefully it'll resolve itself, although I'd still get it checked out particularly if the cramps are brought on by periods of inactivity or while in bed.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply, still not had one as yet today. You mention that peiods of inactivity or while in bed, I'm getting the cramps whilst just sitting down then trying to get up.
