If there was ever a time I needed to read something like that then it's now. Really struggling at the moment with the breakdown of my marriage and the emotional and financial stresses that accompany it. Training and the gym is the one area I can control, forget about my woes and do something right. This post has helped reaffirm that, thank you Joshua
I'm glad that you feel that you found solace in my words.
I understand how the gym provides you with that space for you to be free from the entanglements and sheer craziness of the world that you have found yourself in.
It may seem that the gym is the one area of your life that you can control, but this is an illusion as you can control so many things in life. It's just that sometimes we get conditioned into thinking that we can't.
It's like the baby elephant that gets tied to a stake. It pulls and pulls, only to learn that it is not strong enough to break free. As an adult it can quite easily break free physically from that little peg in the ground, yet it has become conditioned to think otherwise.
Embrace the freedom that you feel in the gym but know that the same power and control over your life actually extends way beyond the gym. In time, those feelings of control will manifest themselves in all manner of other areas in life. Maybe it will be months, maybe weeks, maybe days from now, maybe today. But, it is inevitable that your clarity of mind, that clear power and control, that hard wired determination, will spill out into other areas of life. You might find that you notice it in just one other area, before you notice it appearing in another, then another. By that point the carry over of your will, cascading over into all other aspects of life becomes inevitable.
I pray by aesclepius that your recovery is swift and effective. You have already taken powerful medicine, and your conversion has already begun.
All the best,
J
