it winds me up tbh. especially this 4th July on social media etcI know, my wife is American, and I have many American relatives and friend and this is one of the many reasons I won't move there and raise my family there.
They are completely unquestioning when it comes to thier military and refuse to accept it have committed atrocities

just seen FREEDOM written everywhere
so how the fuck does that work?! you go and "discover" (i.e. INVADE) a native land, kill the inhabitants (native americans) and populate it.
if that isnt enough you choose to invade other middle eastern countries and do the same shit in order to steal oil
all in the name of FREEDOM
marketing is a wonderful thing lol

agree with you here too tbh. was talking about this in depth with my nephew who will be studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford and to summarise a very long conversation, basically we see what the US is doing as out and out manslaughter and very bad etc etc. But at the end of the day on a bare bones level we are humans and humans are carniverous animals - just like in the jungle. kill or be killed. And that is what is happening now. Either invade or be invaded - its kind of a genetic predisposition ingrained in all of us whether we like it or notAre there any countries...any at all...that don't act to serve their own interests though?
Americans are just an easy target...bordering on panto villains, hangover from the Bush administration
Britain/Tony Blair era on a smaller scale
Israel/Palestine we just shrug and think 'oh here they are, at it again..
'
Australia just shut themselves out from every fucker. Serve their own interests completely in a different way. The list goes on.
We shouldn't bash the US just because they're not as altruistic as our fragile hearts would like them to be. What fucking country on earth is altruistic?

It's a disgrace, their motto is "Land of the free, home of the brave". Yet when someone outs the government (ie Edward Snowden) for violating it's citizens freedom and privacy, they're locked up for years! I hope Russia grants him permanent asylum.it winds me up tbh. especially this 4th July on social media etc

gotta give them a round of applause though; probably one of the youngest countries out there yet the biggest world power. It's a disgrace, their motto is "Land of the free, home of the brave". Doesn't say much for social civilisation as a concept or working model though if, at the limit, we get to pull out genetic cards as excuses.agree with you here too tbh. was talking about this in depth with my nephew who will be studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford and to summarise a very long conversation, basically we see what the US is doing as out and out manslaughter and very bad etc etc. But at the end of the day on a bare bones level we are humans and humans are carniverous animals - just like in the jungle. kill or be killed. Humans aren't nearly as advanced and benevolent as they like to think they are.
More of a four-limbed virus, tbh.
agree with you righty but at the end of the day it takes time to develop as a social civilisation and the rates at which people/nations develop is largely influenced by their history, freedom of speech, what they are verbally fed on a daily basis etc
Did the west "try to install democracy" with the Arab spring. IIRC the precursor was the leaking by manning of the US diplomatic cables.I was listening to radio 4 the other day and they were interviewing (IIRC) a former middle easy envoy/diplomat who had held the position for over 9 years. He thinks that the middle east crisis (Israel/Palestine/Egypt etc) won't sort itself out for at least 50 years. It's worrying and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight, especially for Israel/Palestine.
What good did the West do with the 'Arab Spring' and Iraq? Look at the countries now. Our way of life and democracy is not an overnight thing, like the west tried to install. It takes years upon years. They'll get there eventually, but not by us encouraging uprisings.
Look at Ukraine now. The West approved of the demonstrations in Kiev and look at the state on the country now; pretty much civil war.
