When I leg press I get a burning feeling in my quad, should I stop the set or carry on? I dont want to get injured but I dont want to stop if I dont need to.

Your avi suggests your at a decent level mate. Surely you,ve felt the burn before?

That was a while ago, had a shoulder injury and was off for nearly 3 yrs, got back in Feb. I only get it in one leg, never felt it anywhere else, its like a burning/pulling feeling, i dont want to end up tearing it.

Also, its not the whole leg, just one area if that makes any difference, its not the tired burn from lactic acid etc its different.

Okay mate when in that case I would listen to your body, generally its a sign to ease off. How does this feel doing other leg exercises, squats, hacks etc

All good on other exercises only feel it on leg presses, not straight away but as I get up through the reps and it gets harder.

Dunno mate hard to guess. Gym goers have the habit of throwing on lots of weight when doing leg presses [ myself included ] and find it quite a strain pushing them out. I feel it more high on my outer thigh [ strain ],

I don't know if this is where you are feeling the pulling/burning but as I say listen to your body. If your feeling it only when under heavy strain why not try dropping the weight somewhat and see if problems still there.

Are your legs properly warmed up before your heavy sets? You could consider doing them last in workout. If doesn't help, I would skip em for a while.

I squat then, I single leg leg press. The weight isnt heavy im going for 12-15 reps. I get it about 1/3 of the way up from my knee, along the centre of my quad.

Curious to why you do it one leg at at time? Is the stack very light or is this a preference? Hows it feel doing both legs,
It is more common for injuries just above the knee but you could have a small strain/tear which could suggest your slight burning feeling. I would be thinking you would feel this during squats too though.

Its a plate machine so I can put what I like on it, I just do single legs for balance really. I switch it up though, when I go heavy I do double and when I stay light I do single. I feel it both ways always in the same leg, same place, it doesn't bruise or burn after just while under tension.

See my last post which I edited mate and hopefully someone will pop in and add to the thread. You would get bruising in a tear but not necessarily if it was a small one, so who knows. Could leave them alone meantime.

Thanks mate, I'll maybe see if anyone else has anything to say, maybe I'll give them a miss for a while, it just seems weird that of all the leg exercises I switch between that leg press is all I feel it on.
