Is the UK "Hyrox" craze officially ruining traditional commercial gyms?

Evening gents,
Wanted to start a thread to vent a bit and see if anyone else is experiencing this at their local gym, or if it’s just my area.
I’m currently training at a standard commercial chain and over the last 6 months the floor layout has changed drastically. They have recently packed away two of our best plate-loaded chest machines and a dedicated row setup just to clear out a massive, empty "functional turf" area for people to drag sleds and do wall balls.
Don't get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against people wanting to smash their cardio but it feels like the massive explosion of Hyrox and functional fitness in the UK is actively pushing traditional hypertrophy and strength training into a corner.
To top it off, local independent bodybuilding gyms are getting rarer and more expensive by the month leaving a lot of us stuck with these commercial spaces that seem to actively dislike bodybuilders.
Am I just turning into a grumpy old bastard, or are we genuinely losing true lifting culture in standard UK gyms?

I'm not an expert, but your gym must have joined Hyrox as a Hyrox affiliated gym. Obviously they have to have the right areas and equipment to train for Hyrox. Hyrox is not taking over or ruining gyms, unfortunately your gym has become an affiliated gym. If you have joined a commercial gym chain, there will be other gyms that are not Hyrox affiliated. I was going to suggest an independent gym. Where I live there is not a Hyrox affiliated gym, but there are 13 gyms in a small area. You have to remember, there are only so many Hyrox events around the country each year and each event can only take so many Hyrox trained entrants!!

There is one commercial gym chain that don't want large bodybuilders, that is why the dumbbells only go to a certain weight. This is fact as I know a person that asked the manager of his gym and that is what was said.

I don't know how popular Hyrox is, being able to run fast is the biggest obstacle, not being as strong as a bull. I know people that have competed but would not do it again. The tickets for Hyrox events go on sale first in Hyrox affiliated gyms, or they did and what a fiasco that turned out to be one year... People at these gyms must have bought tickets for friends that were not at a Hyrox affiliated gym and in two days 75% of the tickets had been sold. So when the tickets went on sale to the general public only 25% of the tickets remained. The 25% of the tickets went in no time leaving people that had trained for the event without a ticket. There was hell on, I won't forget it. Don't know if the ruling about Hyrox affiliated gyms getting tickets first remains but clearly they could not run a raffle...!!

That's the limit of my knowledge on the subject. Move to an independent, I would, even if it costs you more!
