Knee Problems and Weight Loss

well i went to a specialist yesterday about my knee problems. Im a carpet fitter so on my knees all day and i think this is the main reason i have knee problems but the doctor says otherwise.

He asked me if i exercise, so i told him about my training and straight away he blamed my problems on squatting (which i haven't done for a while) and the fact that i weigh 100kg which he said is to much and i need to loose weight.

He then went on to say i can do some leg exercises like leg extensions with moderate weight, but i thought that leg extensions were bad for your knees

If im honest he was a **** doctor didn't look at all interested and answered his phone and was on it for 10 mins while i was sat in my boxers like a lemon !

Muscle usually carries itself unless it is excessive. So a weight of 100kg aint an issue.

I tend to agree that it is your job, not the squatting.

This is why I never go to the doctors, because 95% of GP's make it up as they go along. They are just there to fill in prescriptions for people. If there is a pill or pain killer they'll happily hand them over. NHS is Pharmaceutically owned!

I went in to get my shoulder looked at.

The gp didn't even ask me to take my top off and just told me to take some ibuprofen.

I could've prescribed myself that! Tw4t.....

Lose weight u fat fck! Lol! - most doctors spout bull**** mate! I went to hospital a while back
before and the doc told me to stop my high protein diet and kept questioning my girlfriends mother whether I was on steroids because I was on a cut and looked very vascular.. - the dr was really fat and he gave me a lecture on nutrition.. Pff jog on mate!

Ive got a decent Docotor but even he can be a twat sometimes.

Its the typical case of you have to go see him 2 or 3 times before he finally listens to your a refers you to a specialist, all just because its comes out of there budget.

I had this issue with trapped nerves, prescirbed loads of pain meds that just seemd to zone me out untill they finally sent me to get it properly checked out and is happening now with my nose, devfiated septum (which is ****ing said in the first appointment) and was prescibed a nose spray.

Went in about it again and he says yeah, you have a deviated septum (WELL DUH i can ****ing breath out my left side)

Dr's sometimes are very annoying, im not saying I know better than them but sometimes I wonder, maybe its just a broken system

get some knee pads if you don't already, armoured motorcycle trousers are also fantastic :)

the guy is a moron, tell him to get lost and find a good one... afaik and from what I read good squatting will do nothing but good things for your knees... plus 100kg of fairly lean person wont be a problem as said... better yet find a doctor who trains...

With my old job i used to go to a lot of networking events and you always used to get loads of 'life coaches' and 'nutritionists' at them and they were ALWAYS fat middle aged women. If they know so much why don't they sort themselves out?!?!

I know this wont be popular, but as he is a specialist and not a GP then, even though what he told you might not what you want to hear, don't ignore what he says without any consideration at all. I would personally get a second opinion (especially if I was a carpet fitter).

I do get what your saying mate but if i was 25st i could see my weight being a problem but not 16st.

Ived had xrays which shows nothing so im booked infor a MRI in a couple of weeks so well see what that shows.

completely agree. to many are quick enough to ridicule and slag doctors/ surgeons on forums because xyz does it lol

get a second opinion. id say a combination of the both squat/work it the problem. unless a gp had you stripped off, he would guage your weight soley by the scales and for a sore knee he wouldnt be getting a glimpse of your abs so why would he say anything other than your overweight

Its always healthy to lose some weight.
Unless you're already sub 8% body fat why not just lose some body weight and make life easier on your self.
I don't see why people are slating this guy he is speaking the truth....
