I have just got some Vitamin E (400iu) and im wondering how much to take daily and at what time (am or pm) ?

And can any remind me of the benefits they bring to bodybuilding as i knew but have forgot ?

bump

I take a gram once per day with my final high fat meal.

Thanks for answering, what are the benefits again ?

Vitamin e along with d help increase testosterone levels along with being a good all round health supplement.

I bought some Vit C aswell thinking of taking 2g a day that sound about right ?

Sure during your workout is a good time along with in the am for vitamin c.

Vit c and vit e work kinda synergistically as antioxidants - the main form of vitamin e is alpha tocopherol, and this is a potent antioxidant but each molecule only has the capacity to neutralise one free radical... but vitamin c acts on the vit e and recycles it, allowing a much greater antioxidant function over all.

In respect of which vitamin e to get, don't buy one that contains either 'all-rac' or 'dl-alpha' tocopherol - always go for 'd-alpha' or 'RRR-alpha' (same thing)... the crappy stuff has less than half the bioavailabaility.

BTW, if interested in bioavaialbility of vitamin and mineral supplement types am gonna do a thread soon... will go into more detail there.

Vit Es are from zipvit and say D Alpha Tocopherol ?

If it's 'D alpha' it's good stuff. Basically the D and the L indicate the shape of the molecule... in simple terms they are mirror images of one another.

The natural, highly availlable vit e is the D form - the L is artificial and needs conversion to be utilised. DL indicates a mix of both, while 'all-rac' means all racemic - a fancy term for saying the same thing.

Yup its not DL so alls good, what would you think of taking 1g vitc and 400iu of vit E With my first and last meals ?

Sounds ok. if you have any issues sleeping, you can even double the vit c dose to 2g in the evening - it can help lower cortisol so allowing you to relax more easily.

Will be very interested in reading this Dtlv. If you can try and make it a sticky, would be very useful for newbies and experienced folk.

Big props :)

Bump for the morning

Cheers Saxon. Have been writing a couple of articles that, provided I don't mess up the brief, should get published :)

They'll be copywrited to someone else as I'm effectively ghost writing for someone, so can't reproduce them verbatim, but will change them around to make em more suitable for the forum and post them up. The mods can sticky them if useful enough - i'll just be happy if one person reads them and finds them useful!
