Competing in 12 weeks, USBF show in pro division.

Chris yes very normal way of training.
Tons of reps on every set.

DTLV, compete and attempt to stay as lean as hormonally possible year round.
I am literally not satisfied with my appearance if I have any fat on my abbs.
Thankfully I store fat in a way that allows my abbs to be shredded at 8% bf.
So this possible.

Is that just purely a vanity thing @Con?

Yes and no.
My gym has mainly older bbers (35-60) and one theme rings true.
The guys that stayed lean and lighter have less pains/health issues and are still competing/training hard!
Heavier dudes are pretty much all fucked up.....still look good but have many issues.
My big days are gone I will never add a load more muscle.
Literally improving by adding .25lb here and there to certain body parts with specific training is all I will manage so getting heavy has no point.

Logs have little purpose without pictures.
So here is me at just under 13 weeks out.
No pump, taken in the evening after walking outside with my daughter...in other words no tricks to look better that I actually do.

I think it's great that your so young and so level headed in regard to health.

I wonder when guys are pushing the size game(who are never gonna be pros) if they ever ever think about long term health.

I see another bodybuilder died today.

Well everyone dies we just over focus on bodybuilders.
But the difference between carrying a lean 8% physique and a 13% is about 20lb once water is taken into account.
That's a lot of excess weight to drag around.
Plus muscle mass is lost while dieting (well it is in my case with no PED's obviously not the same for all people).
So this way will effectively allow for more muscle to be held.

Yeah I think it's refreshing to see someone not just talking about dem gainz but also thinking about keeping healthy... is not for me to tell anyone how to approach or view things but it I do often end up thinking many people are pretty short sighted. Have seen many people over the years focused on looking a certain way 'no matter the cost' and then a decade later when issues catch up speaking about how they'd do things differently if they could go back.

I was unhealthy in my early 20's chasing size.
Now in my late 20's I just want to keep doing what I love and be healthy.
Being surrounded by people in ill health is a good motivator!

Due to leg training today I did no treadmill cardio.
Instead I did a 3 mile evening walk with my wife and daughter.

Starting tomorrow cardio is upped to 45 minutes per day.

I always keep forgetting that you are still in your twenties, Con! You've achieved so much already, and I think are smart to take the longevity approach you have done. I met a PT in Charlotte last time I was there by the name of John Young - he was 76 and had been training since his early twenties. He impressed the heck out of me for the condition he was in and it was amazing looking at his photos of old bb'ing shows and him with golden age bodybuilders through the years. He also put me through a killer workout that humbled the heck out of me, lol. I can see you as an old guy like him in fifty odd years though, still being fitter than most people thirty years younger.

Trained back and delts yesterday.
Lat pulldowns 3 heavy sets last being a triple drop
Cable rows 3 heavy sets
Deadlifts 1 set 5p for 6 reps drop 4p for 6 reps drop 3p for 8 reps
Smith delt press 2 plates per side 16/14/11 reps
Machine side laterals triple drop set x2 sets
Bent over machine raises triple drop set x2 sets

Today I did my hour of cardio but felt pretty beat up with sweat smelling like ammonia so took the day off from the weights.

Interesting regards the sweat smelling like ammonia , I had that last week and was wondering wtf the smell was , it was like nose tork , how is this ? I've only experienced it a few times lol

If I push too hard I get this even with sufficient carbohydrate intake.
Just a sign to have a rest day.

Thanks guys , I upped my carbs a good bit a few months back so when Liam said keto I panicked I wasn't getting enough lol

Everyday is a school day, when I get this again I know when to call it a day.
