Hi everyone,

I’m looking to update my work wardrobe and have been thinking about scrub caps. I’ve noticed a lot of variety in patterns, fabrics, and fits, but I’m not sure which style is most comfortable for long shifts.

Specifically, I’m interested in female scrubs caps that stay secure but aren’t too tight, and that allow my hair to stay neatly contained. Do you have recommendations for brands, materials, or designs that balance comfort, durability, and style?

Any personal experiences or tips would be appreciated!

I’d check with the cold-cap nurses before adding a headband, since extra layers or pressure can affect the fit and cooling. A soft, seamless cap may be more comfortable, but stop if there’s pain, numbness, or burning. For the haircut, I’d use a stylist familiar with chemo patients, keep the cut simple, and avoid tugging or heat on the thinning areas.

I’ve also found Surgical hats in different fits, including adjustable and lightweight styles, so it’s worth checking the sizing rather than buying a very tight one.

Honestly, scrub caps with buttons sewn on the sides saved my ears from getting chewed up during long shifts when we had to wear masks non-stop. If you want something that actually holds up and looks decent after being washed a hundred times, look for cotton-poly blends instead of pure cotton so they don't shrink into doll hats in the dryer.
