Hello everyone.

We finally got our 2-year-old’s autism diagnosis and insurance approval, only to learn every ABA provider within an hour’s drive has a waitlist over a year long. I feel like I’m watching a clock tick during the most important developmental window.

Friends say to just wait, others say to start therapy at home ourselves. Did you bridge the gap with speech therapy, parent coaching, or play-based programs?

Is it worth switching to an out-of-network provider with openings, or is the wait usually worth it?

I’d love practical advice from anyone who’s been stuck in this limbo.

thanks in advance for any help
